Many times when a poster says something that someone finds inappropriate or they disagree with it, they will comment. It’s usually threadjacking to a certain extent.
Sometimes when this happens, a mod will step in and as people to stop threadjacking, or the comment is deleted. Other times nothing is done.
Personally, I believe in stating something; keeping quiet implies that you are ok with what a poster has said. The moderation that occurs in these situations confuses me. May we not say anything? Should we PM the poster instead? I’ve tried just flagging, but when nothing is done it feels wrong to me to just stay silent.
I do appreciate the moderation team and realize their job is difficult! I just want some clarification on this issue and what is allowed within the community.

Here is what Mr. Bee said about threadjacking in the past: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/threadjacking-on-weddingbee
I hope that helps. 🙂

@trugem: I appreciate the reasoning behind the rule, but I don’t agree that all threadjacking is inappopriate, but similar situations are handled very differently.
As a made up example, say the OP is complaining about a family member, and throws in a racist remark. I see the comment, flag it, and wait. Nothing happens. I feel the need to say something, as just ignoring the comment feels like I’m saying I’m alright with the comment. I briefly mention how the comment is inappropriate. Others may agree or disagree with what I’ve said; which is fine (as long as there are no personal attacks or other comments violating the posting guidelines).
Sometimes the mods step in when this is done and comment about threadjacking, sometimes they do not.

@AB Bride: Sometimes leaving a comment gives the OP the reaction they want (making bees angry), which is why it is best to flag it and leave it to the Mods. You can also try to PM a hostess or a mod if you think it has been a long time or the thread is spinnng out of control. I hope I helped. I will see if a mod can comment here too.

Others may see it differently, but I don’t think it’s threadjacking to MENTION something that was a part of the OP but not related to the central issue at hand. It seems like it only becomes an issue when that starts a long back-and-forth on a new unrelated issue. Just my opinion, though.

Also, I’ve seen many threads that weren’t intially about cute animals end up having lolzcatz type pictures posted. Quite often hostesses initiate it. Does that not count as threadjacking? To be honest, I would be annoyed if that happened to one of my threads.
