I’m not in the path that you’re refering to, but I’m from KS so anything with the word “tornado” in it catches my attention (I refuse to live in a home without a basement or storm-safe room). I know how terrifying it can be to be in the direct path of one of those things. Those going through such a tough experience most certainly have my sympathy.

We are in the path but I didn’t hear of anything locally.  I haven’t watched the news so I don’t know if there were any tornados in AL.

There are tornados about 45 minutes to an hour north of us in KY…we stay pretty protected by the mountains everything dies out once it comes over the plateau in middle TN and hits the valley and then we get all the rain but none of the storms (sometimes I get a little bummed, I’m a weather freak). We’re still waiting on that last arm of the storms to pull through our area…they should be here any minute now…I’d love a good light show! Glad you are safe!

Tornadoes scare the crap out of me! They are seriously in my big top 5 fears list. I’ve had a close call living in TX so my prayers are definitely there for those who were in their path recently! 🙁

I hate tornadoes. We’ve only had a few really nasty ones around here, but without fail in the spring the sirens go off at some point. Living in the city I don’t have to worry about it, but where my parents live is all farmland and they’ve gotten much worse. I remember being a kid and having to sit in the basement until the all-clear was given. my thoughts will definitely be with all the people who are affected by this, I can’t imagine how hard it must be to go through.

I’m moving to Mississippi or Arkansas in August and am absolutely terrified of tornadoes! I can’t imagine how terrifying it must be, and definitely have those people in my thoughts.

How close do the tornadoes get to the Delta, where I’ll be living?

@elliemae: I bet he’ll listen from now on! It’s such a terrifying experience to go through a tornado. I hate the feeling of never quite knowing if it is over. I have spent the entire night in my bathroom out of fear that I won’t wake up to the sirens (probably irrational fear). I was in a direct-path of an F4 tornado a couple years ago. About 3 minutes before it would’ve reached my apartment, it picked up and went another direction. Scary. I sure hope those folks are doing ok in this current path.
