We are almost at the 6 month mark. I went to the doctor last week because I have not had a period since November and no BFP. They ran all the normal bloodwork and everything came back normal. The next step is a transvaginal ultrasound. Has anyone else had one? I’m just trying to figure out what I should expect? Do they tell you results same day? Did you have to wait awhile to hear anything back?
Good news is my doctor is very aggressive with treatment so once she finds out that everything is clear from these tests, we are going to talk about starting Clomid. I’ve had multiple issues in the past and so she decided I didn’t need to wait a full year of trying to start treatments.

I’ve had transvaginal ultrasounds, but due to a pregnancy. They are really no big deal. Way less painful/invasive than my normal yearly exam.
They use aw and, and insert it to look around. It’s smaller than a penis so is at most odd, but it’s never been uncomfortable or painful. They will be looking at the screen and you should be able to,see it (although will likely have no idea what you are looking at). If your doctor is doing the u/s, they should walk you through what they are seeing.
Have you had an HSG done? I think that’s what it’s called. The dye test to make sure your tubes aren’t blocked? They may recommend doing that at some later date as well.

@mdglass: I had one done, and it wasn’t that bad. I don’t remember feeling that much down there like no pain etc. It was more uncomfortable than anything. They gave me the results the same day. I waited until I got called from my doctor, and everything looked fine, no cyst. You would be fine.

I agree with the PP it isn’t that painful and the probe is smaller than the average penis. The techs let me put it in for by myself so it was easier for me to insert it than having a stranger do it.
I will say they use lots of lube (yay) but I would bring a pad or even a spare pair of undies unless you like the walking around with gelly undies feeling.

I had one last week. Knowing what to expect made it no big deal. They do this type of ultrasound to look for a lot of things, so it lasts a bit longer than a regular ultrasound. One thing I was not expecting was a hearbeat sound, which was them checking the bloodflow to my ovaries. Good luck, you will be fine!

I’ve had one. It doesn’t hurt it just feels…wet. I had mine done in a hospital and the tech did not give me the results. I had to wait three days for my doctor to get the results. If your doctor does the ultrasound I imagine you’d find out immediately though. Good luck! I hope your results are good.

I’ve had a couple (from pregnancy) and they didn’t bug me at all. They put lots of lube on the wand and then it just slides right in. Never had any pain or anything.

Thanks everyone for the replies! I feel a little better knowing that it won’t be so bad.

@mdglass: I had one done by my GYN and one done by a tech. Both were a bit uncomrtable, not painful, but once it was inserted it was fine. But I always find my two yearly exams very painful, even after giving birth. I guess I’m just ultra sensitive.
