Who is writing their own vows? I am not getting married in a church, so I did not want to have a typical ceremony. My Fiance is the romantic(I have a volume of poetry to prove it). I am not as good with words as he is, so I decided to challenge and myself write my own vows. This could be a disaster!

I wrote our ceremony, kind of following along Mrs. Cherry Pie’s.

- Wedding: August 2009 - St. Thomas of Villanova Church & the F.U.E.L. House
We can’t write our own, since we’re having a Catholic mass 🙁
But we WILL be offering a “toast” of sorts to our guests and each other at the reception. Still need to jot down some notes for that!

I’m just not good enough with words to write them myself… Fiance wanted to so bad (he’s a much better writter then I am). In the end it was perfect though!

We didn’t do a church wedding either. Our officiant asked us if we would be willing to write our own vows. My husband fought it over months (he was nervous), but he eventually realized how important it was to me and did it. Saying our feelings, thoughts and hopes for the future up there was the most amazing thing we’ve ever done – I couldn’t be happier with the wonderful things he said to me and I was so happy to be able to tell him how much I loved him in front of our family and friends. By the time we were finished, there was not a dry eye in the house (including the two of us). It was incredible! He ended up saying it was his absolute favorite part of the whole day! Now we’re having our vows printed and framed to hang in our bedroom to remind us of the promises we made. I highly recommend writing your own vows…it’s so worth it.

tessabella you are amazing. This is exactly what I needed to get started. I have that page saved so I can read it in full when I have some quiet time.
