We’re having a dinner from our caterer/chef that we used for our wedding (and DH’s birthdays previously). It comes all in little boxes with instructions for heating and assembling the meals. Yum!!! We did it last year and it was amazing, I’m so excited for this year! I also got him a box of mini Reese’s peanut butter cups since that’s his favourite. I’d like to get him something else little since he’s been so sweet to me since I burnt myself, he’s been washing my hair for me at night. He’s a good hubby πŸ™‚

@maryd68: You have a lucky Fiance, I’m too cheap to give him that stuff for Valentine’s Day! LOL!

BUT to take off on what Maryd said, what about lingerie? (That you wear, not for him, lol!!!) A night in a nice hotel? Ooooh couples massage!!!!

I’m working on making him a cd – we always make mixes for each other.  I’m including some awesome new songs I’ve found and also some of our old favorites.  I’ll also make a handmade card for him and write something sappy in it.  I don’t have a lot of money, so I try to choose less expensive things.  I’ll get him something else to go with it – maybe a sweater or other clothing item.

We always get eachother chocolates and some sort of ridiculous stuffed animal that sings and dances. One year I got him a monkey that sings that song… oh crap I don’t know any of the words except one, Hot hot hot. Steve Carell sang it on the Office once??? Well anyways, thats all we do for Vday although he usually gets me flowers as well.

i wish i could help but i suck at trying to figure out what to gift the mister, plus valentine’s day is a month before our anniversary and 2 months before his birthday so i’m always hurting for gift ideas. and then add that he doesn’t like chocolate and well, things get interesting.

so far all i’ve got is making him a valentine’s day card, which i should probably start on since february is tomorrow afterall!

I am going to make him dinner.

I ordered banners for our wedding and the vendor gave me a free extra one πŸ™‚ so I am going to hang it over the dining room. Here is what it looks like:

Here is the seller if anyone is interested: http://www.etsy.com/shop/funkyshique

I also ordered one of these from Etsy:

They are adorable. I still want to get him another small gift, but don’t know what.

The best presents weve given/received have been food. One year we lived right near a Mediterranean restaurant in CT. They made the BEST pita chips but they would only make the batches of them every few days because they were so labor intensive and each batch only produced 6 bags. These were my favorite chips ever. We were good friends with the owners of the restaurant so for V-day one year my husband had them special make an entire batch of pita chips just for me. He got me that, made me a lobster dinner and got me flowers and it was AWESOME. That same year I made him cake balls and put them on a red plate in the shape of a heart and got him a red mug to go along with it. We still have that plate and mug! Usually we just go out for a nice dinner and he will get me flowers and I will get him a card. We dont spend more than that. This year we will be celebrating one week late because it will be our 6 month married “anniversary” πŸ™‚

I go to the local seafood market and get the FH the biggest lobster I can find, king crab legs, shrimp, asparagus, and potatoes.  We both agree that the best valentine is having a rare evening that is just about the two of us being together.  We also don’t turn on the tv and light the fireplace. And NO PHONES.

I am pretty sure that Darling Husband is going to be out of town on V-day so we will either celebrate early, late, or not at all. I am honestly not expecting anything from him, especially since he has a spotty record when it comes to gift giving. (I didn’t get anything for my birthday this past year, but got an amazing gift the year before, lol.) I did, however, get him a copy of his favorite board game. If I am lucky we might get to spend an evening together playing the game and having ‘alone time’ together…. πŸ˜‰

We got a spa gift certificate for Xmas, so we’re going to go to the spa on the 13th–he’s getting a massage and haircut, and I’m getting a massage and mani.  I have no idea what else to get him–he buys everything he wants for himself–but he keeps leaving the Victoria’s Secret catalogues lying around so I think he may be dropping hints?

I also want to give him a really nice card.  Though I love posting on boards here, I’m not always the best at writing lovey-dovey things, and since this is the last V-day before we get married I want it to be special.  Practice for writing my own vows I guess!

I’m not sure yet, we usually just do dinner and cards, but I want to do something special for this one. πŸ™‚
