I had a bout of this when I was in college.  Unexplained vulva pain, no rationale, no support from any doctor.  Then I saw one ob/gyn who recommended that I try a super low dose of amitriptylene (old school antidepressant).  After months of suffering, everything was resolved in a week or so.  It was amazing.  There was actually an episode of Sex and the City that talked about this (“my vagina’s depressed!”) and I believe the character was given the same type of treatment on the show.

I highly recommend that you try something like this if you haven’t already.  When I was suffering I was willing to try absolutely anything and I was amazed that such a low dose of a drug was able to fix it.  I think I took 10 mg an hour or so before bed.  I am not sure if I believe that it was entirely psychosomatic, but it may have been.

I went to a lecture from a very well known GYN where i live and she specialises in this area.

She recommends ladies switch to using only cotton underpants (as it allows the vulva to “breath” and is less likely to cause irritation to the delicate skin) and to use a small amount of 1% hydrocortisone cream on the vulva daily.

She said a lot of ladies have seen improvement with this treatment.

Give it a try 🙂
