How much do you care about the fabric used? Chances are it will be a cheaper version of the picture you see. Also I would not buy anything particularly detailed as the details may be sloppy. You could be pleasantly surprised but I wouldn’t do iI unless its a cost you are prepared to eat if it doesn’t work out.

Is there any way you can go to a fabric store and buy embroidered-edge fabric and then either DIY your veil or ask somebody to make it for you? I’ve seen a lot of beautiful fabrics like that in stores near me.

@nanika:  Look on your local area classifieds. I did that and found no less than 4 people in my area who custom make veils. I am sure if you live in NY there would be even more local options for you to choose from! Or like pp said if you are gpod enough at that sort of thing DIY!

My veil in my profile pic was a 12.95 (free shipping!) china veil.  The first one they sent had cream in the centers of the flowers – I wrote about the mistake and they sent me a new one (no return shipping, they just said keep it). The tulle was nice, the embroidered edge was nice enough, but it took me hours of trimming to make it look as nice as I wanted for pictures and everything.  For me it was perfect – I wanted a long veil with more detail on the edge, but knew I wasn’t willing to spend hundreds of dollars.  I was also prepared to eat the 12.95 if when I got it there was no way I’d wear it.  So, it worked out for me, but I’ve seen other stories that weren’t as successful – maybe try searching for reviews on that vendor?

@nanika:  She was super nice to work with and sent me several photos.  Mine was more expensive, because I had chantilly lace appliques.

@nanika:  I was blown away by the cost of veils! Its a piece of tulle! Lol

My veil was through a chinese vendor on eBay, so I did feel better about the legitimacy of the feedback, and I think it seemed like she was very concerned about getting good feedback from me….

Glad you found some nice fabric. I’m certain you can do a good job of the veil! Just watch a ton of tutorials and practice on some scrap fabric, maybe? My dream is to make myself a fabric flower bouquet, but now I just need the time… eek…
