We moved from the Ottawa Valley to Nova Scotia and are thinking about a possible move to the states for me to go to school. Do either of you have US citizenship or have you looked into it? I would definetively get a job before moving atleast as an inbetween before the perfect one comes a long. This really depends on what you do for a living however.

@Pappy8:  We moved pretty far, from South Carolina up to Minnesota.  We actually moved for my husband’s job (it was the only one he got offered) but we had wanted to move somewhere different anyway.  Him getting the job before the move was great because we knew we were going to have income when we got here plus they paid some of our moving expenses.  I think that plus the security of the job waiting are great reasons to get a job before moving.  I would also say being fairly open to where you’re willing to move will help, especially when looking for a job beforehand.

Atleast in sales there are no real borders. The only thing Id be worried about is the states having a harder time than canada in the economic crisis that there might not be much open. There may also be limitations due to visas etc. Id contact the US consolat or embassy to get more info.

I’m moving from Canada to the USA in about 2 weeks. It was a HUGE process for my fiancée visa. You have to have some pretty specialized training in order for a job to sponsor you to move, especailly because of the jobless rate in the USA. If you’ve got any questions, I can try to answer!
