I fell in love with a dress a few months ago & I was pretty sure it was the one but I decided to keep looking for a little while because I didn’t want to break the bank for my parents. One day, my Mom & I found a bridal store we didn’t even know existed & found a beautiful sample dress. It was 2 sizes too big, but was a great deal & we came in under budget, even with the alterations I know I would need to do.
But of course after that, I started having dress regret & thinking of the other dress. I have tried mine on several times & it’s so hard to see how it’s really going to look until the alterations have been made & it’s driving me crazy with 7 months to go! I don’t feel as good in it as I did in the other one, but it may just be because it’s too big.
So I have been trying to look online for a used one or a sample, & just came across one for about half the price of the original. It’s brand new, with tags & someone is just selling it at a consignment store, so it’s not a replica or anything. I will still need some alterations because it’s inevitable with me for almost any dress since I’m only 4’11!!
My question here is, do I go ahead & purchase the one I found & try to sell the sample I purchased or do I hold out for the alterations for the one I actually bought?
I’m adding a poll but I’m not going to say which is which because I’m curious what people think without knowing. I’m sure I’ll let you guys know after a few votes though 😉 I wish I had better pictures of both, but here there. Sorry they’re both so big!! And if it makes any difference, it’s an outdoor June wedding which will be kind of a rustic chic style.
Thank you for your input!!

We actually have very similar figures (although I’m quite a bit taller) and I voted for dress #2. I think it gives you beautiful cuves and fits your body better.
Interested to see which dress is which!

I voted No. 2. It really flatters you. Plus, the first one looks like it was made of two dresses.

I picked #1 because it has an element of drama. If your looking for a statement dress you may regret #2. You may need to keep looking.

I vote #2! Pretty and flattering while still relatively simple – a great match for an outdoor rustic chic wedding 🙂

I like #2 as well. The skirt on #1 is throwing me off, it doesn’t really match the top

#2 is gorgeous on you! I’m curious to know which is which 🙂

I love the first one! It fits you so well and is very unique and flattering. Beautiful.

@pookiesmom: OK, I will reveal… You guys nailed it!! Number two is the one I really wanted, but didn’t get. Number one is the original sample I got.
@lulubird: Thank you for the response, you actually got it right too. I think in all of this I’ve realized that I am less of a statement person & wanted something a little more subtle. So even just hearing that, makes me feel better 😉
Thanks so much for the votes & responses everyone. You all really reinforced my feelings & helped me realize my initial instinct was right! I just talked to my Mom & sister and they both agreed that I should go ahead and get it!! I feel so happy!! I guess that’s a sign 😉
I was feeling a little bad since my Mom & I purchased it together. But I asked if she liked the lace one and she said yes, I just did not like the price!! So she’s happy I found it for less and said hurry up & put the other one up for sale!!

I voted #2…more of a classy dress, with the same pattern all through-out. More «rustic chic» as well.
Yay for your decision!! 🙂

Lol, I just showed my fiancé the survey (not the dress though 😉 and he said “now I want to see the same survey with men”. He said the response would probably be “whichever one is cheaper” 😉

I’m in the minority here, but I actually love #1 and think that once you get it properly altered and with the sweetheart neckline that you’re going for, it will look gorgeous!

I’m with @pengoala: in the minority here. I LOVE #1. I think it leaves more of an impression (a good one), and is more memorable.
The 2nd one, while it looks pretty, is kinda ho-hum to me.

I think dress two is very flattering!
ETA: After I wrote this, I scrolled back up in the post to see if you had revealed which is which. I’m glad to have been on the side of what you had hoped to hear! Glad that you were able to purchase the dress you prefer and that your mom approves! 🙂
