I’ve been growing out my air from a pixie cut since the summer of 2010. Since then, I’ve been diligent on growing my hair to possible hip length. Well, that idea has definitely gone out the window since I reached bra-strp length during this past summer. I’ve been hating on the length. It get horribly in the way when I work, when I sleep. Sure it’s nice too look at, but I’m hair challenged when it comes to styles. It’s just become a pain!
During this Thanksgving holiday, I’ve trimmed my hair by 5 inches, bringing my hair to 2-3 inches below my shoulders. I’ve truly been wanting my hair to be a pixie cut since September. 🙁 /rant
I just don’t know what to do anymore. I still have over a year till my wedding (2/28/2015), and I don’t really have anything invisioned. I like the look of short and long hair. I’ve always change my hair drastically pretty much every two years. I need some advise bees. i’m really conflicted over something that shouldn’t be so huge!

I do that too! I grew out my hair for my wedding, and about two months afterwards I chopped it from bra strap length to just below my chin. I was seriously debating going full pixie cut, but decided that one drastic change was enough – I gave enough people heart attacks with my current style!
If it’s really driving you crazy, chop it off. You’ll still have time to figure out something for your wedding vision and, if needed, adjust the length of your hair with either a haircut or hair extensions nearer to the time.

@angeluscado: Thanks for the advice. I’m glad I’m not the only dare-devil when it comes to cutting hair! What did you ultimately do for your wedding hair? (If it happened yet that is!)

@KAggs: Well right now your hair is a bit in the middle or there abouts. I think you need to be patient really to figure out what you want. I know that waiting to grow hair out is brutal and takes forever but I think if you want the option of long hair at your wedding now is a good time to start. Just think of it this way IF you don’t like the long hair look come time for your wedding you can cut it.
I have long hair, very long hair. I love it but I wouldn’t ever be able to pull off a pixie. 🙂

@KAggs: Yep, it happened. Been married for two months already!
I evened out my hair color to something relatively close to my natural color (I have a habit of dying it, ha!). I ended up curling my hair and had it half up, half down with a pretty clip in the back – no veil. My hair doesn’t hold a curl very well so I had to use a ton of hairspray, but it totally held up for the day.

I am a big fan of “looking like YOU” on your wedding day. If you normally would prefer to have your hair short, have short hair for your wedding! Sure, long hair can be beautiful, but so is short hair. Don’t make yourself nuts by not cutting it just for pictures.

@Schatzie821: The problem is that I’m not really sure what looks like “me” per say. 🙁 I’ve changed it so much that I don’t have a true preference. Sure, I always eventually grow out, but that’s because I’m bored and want something different. Then the cycle continues! @

@KAggs: Why not go to a good wig store and try on a few to see which hairstyle looks the best/feels the best to you? You could even purchase one and wear it for a while to see if it really FEELS like YOU.

I’m growing mine long now, not just for the wedding, but for something different. It hasn’t been much longer than this. Then I want to do a big chop before I turn 30 (13 months).

Oh I feel you! Ive been growing my hair out since the summer of 2010, and it’s just past my bra straps now and I want a short pixie SO badly. But I know if I did, I’d miss my long hair. And I just get so impaitent with the growing out thing. I hate how heavy and hot my hair is, and I hate sleeping in it
I’m pretty sure the day after my wedding will involve a pixie cut. If I can wait that long. I’ve done extensions before, on a slightly grown out pixie, and I found that it was good for temporary added length (I had them sewn in and had them there for about a month and a half.)

I cut 18 inches off my hair the night before my husband proposed. I never got to really enjoy my short hair because I was so focused on doing everything to keep it healthy and grow it out. I cut a few inches off after the wedding but my hair is still about bra-strap length.
If you hate the length, cut it off. You have a year to grow it back should you decide you want an up do. Or there are always extensions. But there’ve also been plenty of beautiful pixie cut brides out there. Do what feels natural to you!
