I don’t think the poster should be "jumped on" for writing in caps nor because her nightmare is not horrible enough.

Yes it is fixable but really bad and stressing all the same. Hopefully you and your friend will find all you need in time and look at this as a funny…yet annoying…experience.

Luckily this will be the only thing that goes wrong and is OK to feel like the world crumbled under your feet! It doesn’t happen everyday and it shouldn’t happen to anybody that has planned the whole event for months.

 Hang in there!

If the bride has already paid for her dress then she should go back to the police because this is now a case fo stolen property.  The same goes for the bridesmaids and the groomsmen if they paid to own a tux, if theya re renting then they are out of luck.

It doesn’t hurt to call the local tv station and try to get on as a local interest story.  Many times the reporters will do everything they can to help out.  And sometimes people will even volunteer to help free of charge (maybe get tux rentals or discounts on new dresses.)

Sorry ladies,

I didn’t mean to fish for sympathy on here, it wasn’t my purpose in provided my response.  I just wanted to let you realize that there could be worst thing to happen and I hope for all of your sake that they don’t (honestly I didn’t think what happened could ever happen to me).  So be thankful that your biggest nightmare is that the colors of your linens don’t match or bridesmaid dresses not perfectly how you imagined. You, the bride will still be gorgeous and no one will care.  I’ve received a great deal of compasion through girls I’ve met through weddingbee and I’m extremely grateful for their love and support through this difficult time.  I continue to hope you all the best in your planning and I wish you more than that, a safe and happy life together with the one you love.

Ok- this is what to do…

Bridal gown:
Online, David’s Bridal (yes they have a bad rap) has bridal gowns for less than $200. All of those bridal gowns are in bridesmaids versions in the store- therefore have your friend go to the store to try them on and make sure she orders the right size. They even have plus size gowns. I did this myself to try them on. The dresses are actually pretty. If she ordered today, she would get the dress by wednesday if she chose super quick shipping.

Tux:
Men’s warehouse- they have them in stock and can get them on short notice.

Bridesmaids dresses:
Jcrew or David’s bridal again.

Lanny9, you’re not fishing for sympathy…just providing perspective. I can’t say anything different than what anyone else has said, but know that you will get through this. Time and faith are the best cure for grief, even when you’re grief seems like it has no end.

This isn’t the worst thing to happen, but honestly, who wouldn’t freak out if this happened to you 2 weeks before your wedding?

Recommendations:

A shirt and nice matching ties and pants would work just great for the guys. If they can afford it, a suit. Someone else suggested David’s. Good suggestion. Nordstrom’s is a good idea for the whole wedding party. At this point, you are just trying to find something nice and off the rack that hopefully doesn’t need alterations. Also try Alfred Angelo, Macy’s and any other major dept. store that has a formal section. If I were your friend, I would literally be combing the city for any shops that I think could get me what I need. This would be a good time to take a sick day or two…..

I would also contact legal aid or a local law school and see if you can get some legal help.  I would think that you can get a court order to get into the store and see if any of your clothes are there (after all, you have paid for the goods and are entitled to them).

I would also try to find other customers and see if you can join forces to get information or some relief.

Good luck!

Thank God I didn’t go to Lori’s!! I purchased a gown from Lori’s but decided I didn’t like how I look in it, so I purchased another.

That dress is posted on Craig’s List (tell your friend to check it out) Search St. Cloud, MN.

I will give your friend a deal b/c she has had to deal with this fiasco.

As far as tuxedos go…Go to Mestad’s in St. Cloud. They have better prices and selection than Lori’s did and their customer service is superb!

If she does not like the dress I bought from Lori’s in Craig’s List, I bought the gown I will be wearing to my wedding in July from David’s in Maple Grove. Another place to look is The Bridal Outlet in Downtown St. Cloud; they have several styles at great prices that she can buy off the rack! Best of Luck and I’m sure her wedding will be the day of her dreams!

Sounds like your friend isn’t the only one who is dealing with this problem!  Here’s a link to an article in the Star Tribune – Minneapolis/St. Paul Newspaper!

and one from the local paper in St. Cloud

I’m praying this turns out well for all parties involved!
