- Wedding: July 2011
So I’ll try to keep this as short as possible. I am a college student and after I got engaged I decided my bridesmaids. I choose a 3 close friends and one growing friendship that I felt was good.
In the beggining of wedding planning she was somewhat interested in my wedding and willing to help. She was excited. She is in a short “long” distance relationship and began spending a lot of time away from school and friends. She was never around, and began acting distant but acted like she still wanted to be in my wedding. She would talk to other friends and act like it was our fault for the crappy friendship.
The craziness began when she was making requests about bridesmaid dresses. I was letting them pick their own, and she was the only one who was picking something that didnt match, only because she already owned it.
She then requested wearing a different color because it would mean she had to only by one dress because she is in at least 2 other weddings this summer that were allowing that color.
She then left me a voicemail last week explaining that she had to back down because she didnt think she could afford my dress(it was $45) and couldnt afford a bachlorett party. I had already told my friends I didnt want much, and lets keep it small and cheap and I would help. Were all poor college students,
….except her. Her mom and dad pay for everything. She doesnt pay any of her own bills, and as a completely independent and self supportive college student I resent her acting like she is poor. Her family is rich and so is her fience(did I mention she got engaged a few months back and her ring is huge)
I have yet to call her back. I am always bad at confrontation, and it would have to be a phone converstation because she is hours away from me. She has turned into a bad friend and now dropped out as a bridesmaid for dumb reasons as well as isnt coming to my wedding anymore.
What do I do? Am I right to be totally hurt and pissed.
