I like the burgundy, but you’d have to be really careful with dying it. It could go from ‘that’s pretty’ to ‘she looks like she’s been stabbed in the stomach’ really easily.

I’m sorry, it looks like someone was murdered in it…

I think the burgandy looks like blood, I’m sorry.. But how about your favorite color? For example: my gown has a dark purple train and sash type thingy (it’s sewn into the dress as a panel)

I love that dress!!! But I do agree with your Mom, I would go with a lighter pink for a summer wedding.

I personally like the burgandy one.. especially the way it fades from dark to light.

I voted to stay with the burgundy, but I think I’d rather switch the burgundy for another deep color that’s more appropriate for a summer wedding. Perhaps teal or a deep green?

I really like the burgundy, but it’s perhaps a little dark and “bloody” as some people have pointed out. Could you pick up another colour in a lighter shade, like blue? Or do the skirt in green?

Don’t change a thing, that dress is gorgeous!  I think pink velvet would look very…juvenile?  Eastery?  I don’t know what to call it, but not good.  With a ivory veil and white flowers (wrapped in burgundy ribbon hanging down), this would be absolutely stunning.

I would do an all white bodice with the burgundy skirt, or do the whole dress in burgundy, but the ombre effect on the bodice doesn’t really work well with this particular color in my opinion. Even before I saw the other posters’ comments, I thought it looked like a white dress soaked in blood because of the shading of the red on the stomach area.

I think you cold get away with the ombre/shaded effect in burgundy so long as the top half is pink – in other words that the whole dress is various shades of pink. The white top with the burgundy ombré effect starting at the waist is too drastic and does look like a stabbing.

That said, I think velvet is a winter wedding fabric and even in another fabric the burgundy may be a bit dark for summer.

So I would suggest a white > pink ombre effect, all all-pink ombré effect where the pink on the bottom is more a raspberry colour than burgundy, or a plain pink dress the same one as Reece is wearing.

@babe_bamboo:  I know this isn’t quite what you are looking for, but my favorite color is purple (eggplant).. Here is what I have… You could probably do something quite beautiful with it.. I could see your lace top, with a slightly more a-line/fit and flare satin bottom, now THAT would be stunning… Anyway.. Here’s eggplant on my dress (they’re awful pictures, I’m sorry.. I’m hoping to have better ones soon, before the wedding….)

and here’s a stock image of the back.. to perhaps give a better idea, with a lighter purple (only ‘real’ difference is that my dress is corsetted, not buttoned)

I like anything that’s not plain white! Pink could be pretty cute!
