So I had some time to photograph a couple of the other things I’ve worked on since my last DIY update.
First up, my Mrs. Davis coathanger. It took a couple tries to get this right since the wood was so thin that it broke the first time, but I’m happy with it now.
And second, my “Darling, Let’s Be Adventurers” globe. I bought this for $7 at Value Village. I painted it black (the map part was torn anyway), then used a gold paint pen to do the calligraphy.
It’s going on our guestbook table, along side a giant poster map of the world (shown below) that will show our honeymoon trip (we’re doing a round the world adventure). The other side of the globe will have text explaining that we’d love people to pin little notes of advice on the map (such as: If you’re in Thailand, be sure to do the jungle trek in Chaing Mai! – Love, Aunt Jane”.
There’ll also be a chest on that table with an antique map painted on it (that I’ve had for ages) for people to put their cards.
Here’s the map. I’ve framed it in a wood frame though, to go with our overall theme.
