Hi bees. I work at Mexico’s oil company in the main offices (doing mostly market analysis, so nothing dangerous), it is a 14000 people complex, with one of the tallest buildings of the city (56 stories) and I work a the 24nd… Today around 4 pm, we were all working when there was a blast, the building moved like it was an earthquake and the lights were gone… but it lasted not even 5 seconds… I immediatly thought something had hit the building or something… We were evacuated and found out there was a blast at the building adjacent to us (part of the company and in the same complex of buildings)… I mean, it is where we go down and chat, I have had meetings there, we pass right in front of it everytime we go to lunch…. and it has not been made clear what happened. As soon as we were evacuated I left and all the way through the 24 levels of stairs I couldn’t stop shaking. When we were in the 4th level there was already smoke… I left the scene as soon as I could, and the place was already bursting with ambulances and fire trucks. I walked to the nearest open avenue and took a bus home… When I got here I saw the scenes in the news and it really hit me… people were trapped and dying inside… in my workplace… So far 25 people dead, 101 injured and around 30 still trapped. I was and still am in shock.. Fortunately none of my friends was hurt, but I can’t stop thinking on it, on the “what ifs” and praying for the people who didn’t make it or who are still struggling. Please help me raise your prayers for them as well.

I’m so sorry this happened. I just saw it in the news they’re saying it might have been a gas leak. My thoughts are with those who were in and around the explosion and with you. I hope you feel better soon.

How horrible – what a blessing you are okay but so upsetting what’s happened. We had a dust explosion at our work too (but at another site) and it’s very upsetting and unnerving, so I sort of know how you feel. Many prayers going out to you – stay strong XO
