At first I was very much against it, but then I thought about much time would be wasted taking pictures when we could be enjoying our cocktail hour and had a change of heart! Our reception is only 5 hours long and I’m going to spend an hour of that time taking pictures instead of spending it with my family and friends who have traveled and taken time out of their lives to see us on our special day? No way!

@TinyTina: I agree about having more time for the reception.  Also, neither one of us does well infront of large groups and I believe having the first look between just the two of us and our photographer will be much more memorable.

A first look was a “must” on my list for so many reasons. One, I want that moment to be more private. Two, I don’t want to spend any more time apart from Mr. LK than I have to. Three, we are doing all portraits prior to the ceremony so that we can immediately join our guests for cocktail hour. We didn’t ask friends to fly across the country only to ignore them while we go take photos. And four, I want to eat our cocktail hour food, dangit!

We did. I wanted it to just be me and my future husband present during our 1st look….but when I ended up walking up to him, down the hall all my family members were standing against the wall watching. I was somewhat pissed when i saw them all lined up because I wanted it just to be our momment. I even told some of the family members before hand that were standing there watching that I wanted it to be a special momment of just us 2 but obv they forgot…??? But….the pictures turned out awesome. Our photographer captured some awesome shots. I’m glad we did it…but my advice would be, if you want it to just be u, your future husband & photographer make sure you are very vocal about not wanting family members lined up like ducks along the wall watching.

I’d never heard of this before! When people posted it I thought it was a first look at the reception room- and was a bit confused why everyone wanted photos of them looking at their reception room:-)

So the first time My Snowy will see me is at the altar- I might even insist he doesn’t look down the aisle (might be a bit mean though!)

@loveknows: I am seriously considering doing a first look. I know you don’t get to have the groom see you walking down the aisle BUT you still get to experience that “first look” with each other and not all of your guests.

I also like the idea of taking pictures with each other and with immediate family before the ceremony. This saves time between the ceremony and reception. I personally hate waiting for the bride and groom to arrive from taking photo’s at every wedding.

I would like to just soak in our marriage and enjoy cocktail hour.

Yes we are! For two reasons:

    1. we want to get all the pictures done before our ceremony. That way, we can enjoy our own cocktail hour and reception and have more time to mingle with guests.
    2. We wanted the first time we saw each other on that day to be more personal and give us a chance to talk and laugh together and share our excitment! I really do not understand the concept of staying apart most of the wedding day. It’s our day of union, we should be together for most of it! 🙂

We did a first look and have absolutely no regrets! It was such an amazing moment between the two of us. I just can’t wait for the photos and video! There’s something about having that time alone to just spend together after you’ve seen each other for the first time on your wedding day.

We are. And this is why: Whether you see him the first time before the ceremony or during the walk, his first look is going to be special. I don’t see the difference really. Well, to me, I know there will be a difference. I know for a fact that Mr. Tattoo would try to hold it in because he would be infront of his dad and grandfather. To him, they are the perfection of manly men! However, I know in private, we could have a special moment. I’ve seen that side of him in private and I would love to see it again.

Plus, it gives us a lot of time to do photos so guests aren’t waiting and we get to enjoy the cocktail hour that we are paying for!

We did, because everything was at the same venue, and we weren’t doing a cocktail hour. So, we ended up doing all pics beforehand, and just a few after the cermony
