    That is quite possibly the ugliest thing I’ve ever seen. So glad you turned it down.

    @Arganique:

    Oh dear, I very much feel for you :-). I don’t like the dress at all. There is so much going on: multiple colours, overskirt, beading, appliques, layers, ruffles, ruching…I am also not a fan of strapless dresses. You have a beautiful figure with nice shoulders and belong to the small minority that can wear strapless dresses and look good, so the shape works for you, but the whole dress is rather overdone and looks more like a costume for a fancy dress ball than a wedding gown.

    I have very good sewing skills, but I have no idea what could be done here to change the dress, and turn it into something more in line with your taste. Also, the fabric looks like polyester (too shiny for silk), and that would be a complete no-no for me.

    I would politely decline by telling her how you appreciate her generosity, but you can’t accept it. If she presses for an explanation, tell I’d let her know that you want something simpler.

    That dress is just horrid, I have to say. It looks like a cheap dress for a barbie doll.

    @Arganique:  please do not wear that dress! I am sorry! If its not your style do not wear it. It is your day and you gave to wear something that makes you feel good and comfortable. My fiance’s sister tried to give me her wedding dress but I kindly turned her down she was upset at first but then she got over it

    That dress is probably the reasons why the niece changed her mind about the wedding!

    Maybe the lady’s niece changed her mind when she saw the dress…ha ha joking! But seriously don’t wear something you are not feeling and that’s totally opposite from what you want just because it was a “gift.” Tell your mom and the friend point blank thanks but its not your style.

    the work on the first dress is really really.. it doesnt look like a wedding dress to me though.. I love all the dresses you pick !

    This happened to me my mom and I went shopping and my mom feel in love with a big puffy dress that I liked and thought it was pretty but so not me.. she also told me that nothing would out do it and thats the dress.. we went back tried on the same dress and still she loved it but it wasnt me then I took her to see the dressed I loved a tight lace fit and flare and she cried and loved it all the same because she could tell how much i liked it .. I still think she loved the big dress better but at the end of the day Mom’s will love and think you look beauiful no matter what you pick !
