I think the table number idea you had was really cute. I would just stay more subtle and have it “inspired by” instead of a theme.

@glitterblingsparklebee:  I personally love it! I love the show and think thats really cute that you guys are taking episode titles and writing a blurb about yourselves.

I LOVE Friends so my vote is yes. But keep it subtle and leave out the quotes that people won’t understand. Small things as accents like the coffee cups, the picture frame, and the “the one with…” sayings are super cute!

@glitterblingsparklebee:  OMG I’m saving this thread because I really want a FRIENDS bridal shower. πŸ™‚

I think the giant latte mugs with flowers, the table names, songs, umbrellas… all are a subtle nod to the show and can be totally classy. I would definitely be trying to figure out how to make the peephole frame and use a big one in a photobooth and maybe use smaller ones to frame pictures.

You could also use some french poster art… like the large ones in Monica’s living room and Rachel’s bedroom. (Stay away from Phobe’s art though. No scary women crawling out of frames! EEK!)

Food: Chicken breasts (even though it isn’t a lesbian wedding! LOL), lasagnea… if you do a light night snack it HAS to be either pizza or meatball subs! I’d do a dessert bar with coffee house desserts like muffins, scones & danishes.

Things I want to suggest but are way too out there for a wedding: Magnadoodles (like J & C had on their door), the Laurel & Hardy print from the boys’ apartment, fossils strewn about, juice boxes (from R&R’s first time)… oh man… I could go on forever with this!

OMG but in your vows you HAVE TO say “I’ll be there for you, cause you’re there for me too” PLEASE?!

Damn I wanna go to this wedding so bad. Invite me. I won’t even bring SO! πŸ˜› I’ll stand by the presents and make sure no one steals them.

Party like it’s 1999 is cute, but please don’t base your wedding on a 1990’s sitcom.  One that was unrealistic, at that.

@glitterblingsparklebee:  F all the haters! Seriously – I love it. Its about what YOU want, not what the ‘internet’ thinks is “wedding appropriate”. And honestly, for every person that hates themed weddings, there will be another that hates plain weddings. Dont worry about pleasing everyone because you cant – just please you and Fiance.

I think this is really cute! I think most people will get it and, if not, they will at least have heard of the show. People do Dr. Who themed weddings and Up themed weddings and those are far, far less popular.

Can’t wait to see pictures and read a recap!

I think the idea is cute, but only if done subtlely. If you slather everything in a FRIENDS theme, it’ll be tacky and it will be cringe worthy to look back at your pictures in 10 years. You will probably regret doing a gimmick as it will date everything.

But I DO like the idea. The table and decor idea is cute! Throw little things here and there and if people ask, go nuts and explain the idea, but don’t overdo it.

I like it! And it sounds like it makes sense for you guys. I never watched it when it was on the air, but I’ve seen some reruns. Some people wil get the references and some won’t but who cares? That’s going to be true of any theme. And most of it would still be nice, even if people don’t get the reference. So I say go for it. Keep it subtle, but it sounds like fun!

I think you can have alot of fun with this! Fpr example, on the invitaions you could have a image of monica’s door on the cover. Or pick your favorite episodes and use those as inspiration. It seems that Monica’s and Pheb’s hair are similar so you could use their looks for inspiration. Depending on your venue you could even bring in a couch that looks similar to the perk’s to use for extra seating or in a photo booth. I hope you use “I’ll Be There For You” because that is also a great wedding song in general. Your engaments could be of you two in a fountain like the original intro wearing al black. There’s a lot you can do with it. I thinks its great because if people dont “get it” then it will look like a shabby chic wedding. But for those that do, you will have the wedding to beat! Best of luck!
