I think you should just tell the host not to include a registry and when people RSVP she can inform them of the gift card request. However, you may want to tell her the place you want gift cards to. Leave it off the invite because it’s too much like begging.

Also, running for the border makes it sound like you are fleeing your situation…. (Not a good look on a bride-to-be)

I like your line in this post… Maybe “if you are offended and think this is tacky, please rsvp no because I shouldn’t have sent an invite” 😉

Maybe another bee will be more helpful.

I am also interested in why you think your friend Debbie is being a Debbie downer. Is she just advising you against your idea?

shortbrokebride :  when you add in piñatas, a taco bar and margaritas you are making it a Mexican event. Then implying they need to make a run across the border. If you can’t see how that is racist, then I can’t help you at all.

shortbrokebride: just have a fiesta and don’t use the references to “fleeing” it’s not as clever as you seem to think it is.

shortbrokebride :  This is the only wording I can think of:

“Sorry we won’t be having a shower, thanks!”

shortbrokebride :  Nope I meant you shouldn’t have a shower because you sound like a greedy, money grabbing brat. Coming from someone who can’t spell border correctly, LOL.

If you’re broke enough to have to ask people for money and gift cards, perhaps you should try a second job?
