Hey all! I am recently expecting and am so excited about welcoming our sweet baby to the world next year. I am also a photographer and artist and today as I do on occasion I was browsing through the kickstarter website for projects that are ending soon and still need funding and came across this one and just really wanted to share it because it spoke to me and all the creative and imaginative hopes I have for my little one (this might be the pregnancy hormones kicking in a little!) I am totally new to the world of parenting but I’ve had a little head start watching my sister have kids before me and I was always so frustrated trying to find unique, beautiful gifts for them that were about imagination and play and dreaming and not just the latest and greatest digital toy, and also not gendered or stereotypical. I remember growing up and playing outside and running around making up all kinds of fantastical stories in my mind and even making makeshift capes out of mom’s towels, so when I came across this I just LIT UP and thought it was worth sharing for other parents or aunts and uncles out there who are looking for a gift that would be special and unique and encourage imagination and creativity.
I am buying a few of these in different sizes to gift to my son or daughter as they grow up and a few more for my sister’s kids. I can’t WAIT to make up secret stories to share with each of them about where the capes came from and what secret powers they might have! Right now this project still needs a bit more funding and only has a few more days to do so – a $35 contribution gets you one of these capes, $100 gets you 3, and so on. I’m posting mostly because I want others to know about this but also because if the project isn’t funded 100%, everyone’s contributions are returned and no capes will be made and I think that’s a sad sad thing. If this speaks to you too feel free to share it with others as well!
Seriously – watch their little promo video and try to pretend you don’t want one for yourself. 🙂
