Our wedding will be in South Florida, only about 8 of the potential guests live locally. We just sent out the save the dates, and I am surprised how many people said that they “wouldn’t miss it.” So, if you were planning a wedding with a lot of out of town guests, what percentage of people came? I’ve heard to plan for 80%, but that doesnt seem right when everyone would have to fly in from out of town. (Yes, everyone would have to fly, no driving.)

@ktkoala: I’m actually interested in this too. A very high percentage of our guests are from Out of Town (as in will have to fly unless they want to drive at least 2 days) and we’re kind of trying to figure out what our numbers might be

I voted for 50-70% BUT we did have a very small guest list! We invited 50 people and 30 peaople are coming (3 of them live localy). Most of our guests will be travling 6-10 hours (driving) or flying in. We were surprized by the number

ALL of our guests had to travel at least 3 hours (most of them at least 8). We invited 110 and had 75 people attend.

It really all depends on your guest list. Of our 25 overseas relatives and friends who have to travel (8-20 hour flights depending on where they are coming from) we have had 4 declines, and I recently attended a friend’s wedding in Wales where they invited 4 couples from the US and two from Ireland, all of which attended, plus they had about 90% acceptance from their UK guests (it was a 4-hour car ride or 6 by train from their hometown to the venue).
The more selective you are with the guest list, the fewer No’s you will get.

We have to drive 3 hours to our venue and I’m scared to see the rsvps continue to come in because so far all of them have been yes’s! I budgeted for about 80% of people to come, hoping it would be more like 70% It’s very expensive to stay out where we are getting married so I have that going for me. :

I invited 40 people that would have to travel and 17 are coming.

In invited about 30 and we are at 22…Canada to Greece.

I dont know yet how many people will come. We have only sent save the dates, some people have mentioned they got them, others havent yet.

We invited about 76 guests and 32 attended the wedding but we budgeted for 100% because you never know! We went from Australia to the USA. And most of the guests we thought wouldn;t come were actually the ones that did!

it’s hard to calculate, do you count the plus ones they brought? we had 15 guests at our wedding. we had sent out about 70 invitations. But a chunk of those invites were to DH’s extended family that we knew for sure would not come but had to invite anyway. Either way, i voted less than 25%. i guess i can estimate that about 15 – 20% came
ETA: our wedding was in Jamaica.

We got about 65% attending (and that’s with some B list, who were mostly local).

We are flying from canada to mexico (5hours, $1435.00 later) and we invited 125 guests and we are sitting at about 50ish guests confirmed… so i would say 40%-45%

Thanks Pappy8, thats helpful. I’m kindof hoping for about 50%…
