love-a-lot-bee:  Hey there!  I’m from LA – currently living in TX, but getting married back home.

Our total budget is around $10,000 and we’ve been able to stick that number pretty well (maybe a little over)!  Our venue was free because they double-booked our date and made us choose a different day (23 days to go!).  We are having our reception at a restaurant that is only charging us for food, which will be about $2500.  Our photographer is $1400ish (with military discount).  My hair will be $45, girls $35 each and we will do our own make-up.  We are having a pianist as our reception music, not sure of that cost yet.  My dress was $1200 plus $450 alterations.  My flowers/decor are around $3000 for an indoor garden theme.  We got a digital file for our invitation suite from Etsy and printed through Vistaprint for both Save-The-Date Cards and invites for less than $400, including postage.  Our cakes are $400 (bride’s – 4 tier) and $150 (groom’s – sheet cake).

There are tons of little costs involved with getting married, but these are some of the big ones!  PM me if you have any questions or want a more detailed version of our budget!

love-a-lot-bee:  what all is included in the venue price? Does it include chairs/tables/linens or is it just strictly the space that you’re receiving?

love-a-lot-bee:  it isn’t the Melady House, is it ? If it is, there’s a really good photographer that is in the Oakdale area that will travel to Alex for weddings, you can PM me if you want some more specific information. I am fairly sure she has done weddings there. Also, check out Southern Creations Catering http://www.southerncreationscatering.com/, they are excellent.

Since your venue includes some of the essentials, I would think it would be fairly easy to stick to a pretty good budget. Cenla is a pretty affordable place to live, I have been to several very nice weddings there that would be considered budget. If you find yourself in a pinch, get creative with the Cajun cuisine. It is cheap to make and can feed a lot of people.
