So I work at a jewelry store and this season at my store has been rough. Definitely the slowest season I’ve ever had while working retail. It’s been pretty stressful and added to that have been rumors about the store closing.
But I wanted to share some positive and cute stories from this season!
I helped an older couple pick out their ring and once I pulled out the right ring that they both really loved the man immediatley proposed. Sure it’s kinda cheesey to propose in a store but it was really fun being a part of someone elses proposal! She of course said yes.
I had an elderly man in his late 80’s come into the store. He wanted to buy a promise ring for his girlfriend (who is also in her 80’s). He told us he wanted to buy her an engagement ring but she wasn’t ready to get married yet haha. He was really into it and the whole thing was really sweet.
Today a girl came in and said she needed to get her ring sized. I recognized the ring as soon as she opened the box as I had helped her boyfriend pick it out a few days before. He had been looking at promise rings for his girlfriend and was nervous because she was really picky about jewelry. I pulled two rings for him and he was stuck between them. I ended up making the final call for him. When she came in tonight she expressed how much she loved the ring and how happy she was to get it.
I know it’s dorky but I like being a small part of other people’s proposals! It’s fun to hear their stories and a rush to know that I pulled the perfect ring (see, not all jewelry store workers are cold hard sales people!!).
Has anyone else unexpectedly been a part of another couple’s proposal?
