Never thought I’d ever say these words but I’M ENGAGED!!! Mr. Parrot Proposed while we were on vacation…it was amazing and I wouldn’t have dreamed of a more perfect proposal (while like all things it didn’t exactly go to plan but)…without further ado here is our proposal story.
We had been planning a trip to Mexico we were originally thinking of going with my best friend and her husband. However due to a difference in schedules we weren’t able to do so. Regardless Mr. Parrot and I decided to go on our own for a week.
I left most of the planning to him considering it was my Christmas gift from him and he was paying for it. He found a good deal online and we were even able to upgrade to a honeymoon suite. (Now that should have been hint number 1 huh?) A week or so before we left he had accidently told me about a dinner he had scheduled for us…a private lobster dinner on the beach (that probably was hint number 2?).
After we got to our all inclusive resort we met up with the company we booked through to schedule tours and such. While the tour guide was asking what we wanted to do and what we wanted to visit on our vacation, Mr. Parrot admitted that he had scheduled a Dolphin swim for us on Tuesday (which just so happened to be on the same day we scheduled breakfast, and dinner) alas hint number 3?). Mr. Parrot said he had been thinking for 3 months how he would get me to wear a good bathing suit to swim with the dolphins and walk me over there without me figuring it all out so he just came clean and told me.
Even before I left the thought had crossed my mind along with my entire family’s mind that it may happen. Mr. Parrot down played how much money we had so that I wouldn’t think we could do the dolphins and the other things we were able to do. Although I thought it might happen I forced myself to try not to think about it and just be happy we were going on a vacation together.
The mourning of the proposal we had breakfast on our balcony. Went to swim with the dolphins which was amazing, I am so glad we did it. Plus it was a lot cheaper to do it in Mexico than it would have been to do a Dolphin Discovery in FL. Not only did he schedule it but he got us the highest option which meant more time with the dolphins and more interaction with them as well.
That night as we were getting ready for dinner, I walked out on the balcony and noticed it was raining, I told Mr. Parrot and his only response was “Are you kidding me?” I said “Well, I wish I was but I’m not”. We left early to try to figure out what would happened since it had just rained, The front desk told us to go to the terrace restaurant and that it would probably be there. We got there and a waiter helped us figure out where we were supposed to go. We ended up having our private dinner poolside instead of the beach. Throughout dinner we had a visitor a stray cat who at one point hissed at us.
Just before desert was served Mr. Parrot started saying how the last three and a half years have been great, and how there was something he’s been hiding from me, and he told me he lied to me, and the night that he was with his friend he really want to my Fathers to ask him for permission. He got down on one knee said my name and asked me to marry him. Of course I said Yes! and cried. Oh and I even forgot to give him my hand so he could put the ring on it.
We got back to our room and he pulled my favorite wine out of his luggage saying “Oh I almost forgot I brought this with us so we could celebrate!
That night we went to our resorts theater to watch their version of The Lion King, it was good and they even involved other guests children in it…adorable.
This is a actually a pic of us the day before the propsal…
