The SO went to a concert with me in this tiny cramped basement venue they call “hell.” I know it sounds weird, and he had never even been to a concert before, but I love going to shows and jumping around! He is not as outgoing as I am, and I don’t think he’d even heard of ska music, but he was a trooper and even got in the mosh pit! It is such a relief that he likes the “scene”! I thought that it was a part of my life that he wouldn’t be able to appreciate but I was wrong thank goodness!
Anybody else have experience with this kind of thing? Something you loved that you thought your SO would hate?

I practically live in gay bars, and my Fiance is that metal head, watch sports, get wasted type. He also doesn’t like large groups of people. When we started dating, I went to this thing called Drag Queen Bingo EVERY MONDAY NIGHT, come hell or high water. He had already passed the test with my friends that didn’t come to Bingo with me, had gained the approval and adoration of my nephew, it was just the hurdle of Drag Queen Bingo.
HE LOVED IT.
When one of the hosts was trying to do a skit from a movie, but had no one to help her, he jumped in immediately to help her save face. He would talk to everybody, no matter what, sometimes missing rounds of bingo to keep the doormen (and door queens) company outside.
If he hadn’t been able to handle Drag Queen Bingo, I know we would never have made it this far.

Lol, it’s the most awesome thing ever! When I started going, I was really shy and withdrawn, and it really did wonders for my self-esteem, better than therapy, lol.

3/4 of my good friends are gay men, including my best guy friend, which can make some men kind of uncomfortable. My Fiance will spend time with the whole “group” and opened up to my best guy friend about things he hadn’t even told me! PERSONAL things, I was shocked! That, and I’m slightly ashamed to admit this, but he has taken an interest in my love for Twilight and will always leave the movies on if they’ve on tv, haha
