DH and I got married on Nov 2 after being engaged for almost 7 years.
Long story short, in May DH had a severe blood infection that went undiagnosed for 3 weeks. When it was discovered, it was almost too late to save him. The infection had gone to all of his organs and had damaged his heart to the point where his surgeon told us he would do everything he could, but it was unlikely he’d survive the operation, and if he did, he probably wouldn’t survive the ICU stay. We decided that when (not if) he recovered we would finally get married. After a month in hospital, and another 3 months at home, it was like the nightmare almost didn’t happen.
We had a small courthouse wedding with under 20 guests and then our reception at home. I planned the wedding and honeymoon in 3 months on a shoestring budget. Our wedding day was perfect. I was prepared for a few hiccups, but everything just flowed effortlessly, and it was so amazing being able to celebrate getting to this point with all the people who surrounded and supported us during this terrible year.
Enough writing, here’s some pics.

@PetuniaPie: Thank you! I’m still waiting for more photos. We could only afford to get our photographer for the ceremony and some photos afterwards, but my MOH has just started her own photography business, so she took preparation and reception photos in exchange for using some in her portfolio. Win-win situation 🙂

So happy your day was wonderful (and no small matter that he recovered healthy!).
The way you look at each other is so sweet! You can feel the love through the images.
And your shoes, I was looking for something like that when I got married and had no luck! I ended up with gold ones, but it worked better with my dress anyhow… life is funny that way… but those shoes are what I imagined!
Here’s a toast to you both having long and healthy lives together!
