Has anyone had a special person as their “something blue”?
This person would bring you luck on your special day and would wear blue. You’d probably single them out in the program, make them a corsage, have a special picture taken with them, but they are not part of the wedding party. Has anyone heard of this, or done this?
If you had any different spins on this idea, I’d be interested in hearing them. Thanks In Advance

When I read the title all I could think of was a Smurf! That, or the Blue Man Group…
No, I’ve never heard of this. My something blue was my garter. I guess I don’t see why you couldn’t do something like this though, I’ve just never heard about it before.

@DaneLady: That’s what I thought too. I chuckled. I have never heard of this but think it depends on the person. I wouldn’t really want to be told to wear blue but someone else might find it flattering.

If one of my girlfriends dyed her hair blue…sure! I dont know if I’d single them out or ask them to do so. But maybe it would be a cute photo op if it worked out that someone already did.

I’d never even thought of this, but honestly I think it sounds cute! I agree with @HelleCat, I don’t know that I’d call them out or even really mention it but I definitely think there’s one adorable photo op there.

@ToTheMoonAndBack: this made me chuckle too.
I think the danger is that you are describing a person as your “something” which starts to sound like you are using them as a prop. I know that’s not what you are thinking, just trying to explain why I might be a little turned off by the idea.

@Natalieh86: In the program they could be listed as “Someone Blue”?
I think it’s a cute idea.

I admit I pictured a bridesmaid holding her breath.
It’s a cute idea. Just be careful with your “something old” and “something borrowed!”

Ha Ha, the comments in this thread are hilarious.
I’m all up for putting interesting spins on these traditions!

I guess maybe I shouldn’t make a huge deal of it and just do it quietly. That’d be fine. I just have a ridiculous number of bridesmaids and one particular friend isn’t into putting on a cookie-cutter dress and waving a BoK around (although the others are!). I would be doing her a favor by NOT asking, but I’d like to give her another role of honor. Besides, she’s an attorney….lots of blue in her closet! lol Thanks ladies!

@tekwriter1221: I was starting to wonder if you were inviting the Naavi from Avatar…. If that is the case, yes they can be you something blue, or a smurf, or that guy Megamind… but he might try to take control of the wedding.
