I really like this article and agree with the writer.

When it came to my wedding, once I chose a photographer, I tried to focus on HER photography and style, as I want her to be free to do her best work.  I actually made her a pinterest board, all taken of her OWN photos to explain why I hired her and what style of shots I was looking for.  We didn’t try to re-create anything verbatim, but I made sure that the style that appealed to me most was clear.

She really appreciated it.  Who wouldn’t like to browse through a whole pinterest board of your own work and an explination of what appealed to someone else about each shot?

As a photographer, I do kind of love when people go on pinterest or just the internet in general and do some of the leg work.

With some things I have a list, and you can check the shots you want absolutely FOR SURE.

I HAVE to get those shots then.  and of course we ususally have a list of the standard posed pictures as well.

I even use pinterest for inspiration on shoots sometimes.  I do a lot of model shooting as well as lifestyle paid stuff, and I always scan for inspiration first and develope ideas before showing up and being like ‘uhhh I don’t know what to do now…’

Im sincerely sorry to the photographers here but im not necassarily booking you for your art. I am booking you solely so you can make me look good and get the pics I want.  I wiuld not pay someone money if I asked for a shot and they refused becuase its been done before. This is why I am going with a newer photog who is less likely to be less accomadating.

@Little_Hedgy:  that’s totally ok. There’s a fit for every client. You wouldn’t be a fit for me but I’m sure your photographer will love having more guidance if they are newer.
