We own a terraced 3 bed 1.5 bath house with a reasonable sized garden. We bought it about 7 months after getting together and moved in 10 months after.
We’re both on the mortgage and pay an equal share of the bills.
What’s the difference between an apartment and a condo and what’s a duplex?

i didn’t vote because I don’t have an option on here..
Future in laws are letting us move into a home they own, and we can live there rent free until Fiance graduates pharmacy school.. so we’re not going to own the house but we aren’t paying rent either soooo… yeah 🙂

We rent an apartment. We want to own a home sometime in the future (probably pretty distant future), but we’ve talked about moving to a nicer apartment within the next couple years. The one we live in how is nice, but it’s pretty basic, and there are some “luxury” apartments down the road that we’re really interested in.

I heard on tv a celebrity talking about buying a apartment when she was younger and she still has it. I can’t think of her name. :/

We have rented our apartment for the past 12 months. We’re SO CLOSE to our home being ready, in which my vote will change in early 2012 (we hope!) to own-home!
I don’t regret renting our apartment for a second. It worked perfectly for us!

I am pretty sure condo’s are bigger? IDK though! lol
And I found this for you to explain a duplex: A duplex house is defined as a dwelling having apartments with separate entrances for two families. This includes two-story houses having a complete apartment on each floor and also side-by-side apartments on a single lot that share a common wall. By contrast, a building comprising two attached units on two distinct properties is typically considered semi-detached or twin homes but may also be referred to as a duplex.

I bought our house 2 years before I met my Fiance, he moved in last April, and when I remortgage (which reminds me I need to do that SOON!) we will add his name to the mortgage.

Ah, so my mum’s house would be a duplex, although they each have separate gardens. I thought it was a two-story apartment.

We rent an apartment. DH is in law school right now, so buying isn’t the most financially prudent move right now. We’re also not entirely sure where we’ll end up once he finishes school, so we’ll probably look at buying once we’re more settled.

We’re in a duplex. We don’t plan to build or buy a house until we can put 20% down, and we have a better idea of where we want to settle. So, sometime in the next 5-10 years we’ll be moving on from renting. 🙂

I put other because we live in a house that FH owns, but I also have my condo that I own, but I rent it out. Once we’re married, we’ll put both our names on both deeds.

We are currently renting a town house 🙂

We rent an apartment in a complex community. It’s very comfortable (2 bed, 2 bath, attached garage, separate laundry room, lots of fancy amenities) and we’ve been here for almost 4 years so we’re content for the time being. We’ve just recently felt the itch to buy but I don’t think we’ll get around to that for atleast another year or so.
