Invites: $0 (they were a gift from my uncles who own a print shop…be sure to plan postage too!)

Venue: Approx. $11,000 and everything was included…food, decor, etc.

Alcohol: We paid $500 for our bridal party to drink free, the rest was a cash bar

Decor: included in the venue price

Flowers: $500 which included all bouquets, corsages, boutinierres, etc.

My dress: $650 for the dress, $300 for alterations…plus probably $150 for accessories like belt, jewelry, etc.

Bridesmaid/groomsmen gifts: about $50 apiece

Hair/Make up: I paid for all bridesmaid hair which was about $60 apiece, and I paid for my mom’s hair and make up which was about $100, plus mine was $120

Bus transportation to reception: $400

Musicians: $800 (we went over the top with our music selections since I am a musician myself)

Donation to the church: $200

We had outside help from both sets of parents, but ended up paying about 40% of it ourselves.  We did centerpieces ourselves from flowers from my parents’ garden and that saved a boatload of money.  Our wedding was in Minnesota.

Be sure to budget a lot for your dress.  I was SHOCKED at how much alterations ended up being.

Our wedding was just south of the Twin Cities in Minnesota. My parents paid for the majority of our wedding, but we did cover some deposits and most of the centerpieces. All of our decorations were DIY. This was for 250 people

-venue: free! (family member’s home)

-food: $6500-7000 (includes bartenders)

-decorations: no idea… Did a lot of diy and bought slowly over time

-your dress: $550 (sample) + $400ish for alterations 

-bridesmaid/groomsmen gifts: ~$80 each

We are in the middle of booking all this and man its painful lol

-invitations/save the dates: $225

-venue: $9,000

-food: included in venue, along with cake

-alcohol: 1 hour is open bar included in venue price, rest is a cash bar

-decorations: still debating what I want, will be under 500, it’s beautiful and outside so we don’t need much

-flowers: DIY I was quote 150 a centerpiece, ordering from a wholesaler and will spend about 500 total

-your dress: got a great deal, got 500 bucks off, paid 800, 88 for belt

-bridesmaid/groomsmen gifts: less than 200

how many people did you invite? 75

-dj: most are quoting 1200ish

-Photographer and photo booth: 2300, hoping we can talk him down a bit tomorrow

-any outside help: so far no, hoping his parents chip in something


-was anything DIY: flowers, doing mason jars with hydrangeas and roses and greenery

-how long you saved for the wedding: had put away some, other then that were being very frugal and have been since May our wedding is June 11, 2016

-where the wedding was and it’s significance to the cost: we are from orange county California, most places had minimums of 14k for our date and didnt include half of what we are getting with our package. We’re getting married at a beautiful golf course. We wanted outdoors and it has waterfalls and gorgeous flowers.

  • Wedding: November 2015 - Butterfields Ballroom

-invitations/save the dates : About $60 bucks, I bought the blank invites, lace and embelishments and made them myself.

-venue : $800.00, the ceremony is small and personal so we are having it in a small courtyard and the reception will take place in a ballroom above an old antique store (which worked perfect for our vintage theme)

-food: $300.00 for a salsa bar, our hometown resturant is catering for us, $50 for our small cake top and $60 for 100 cupcakes.

-alcohol: $160 for 2 kegs

-decorations: $600, I did all the decor myself

-flowers: $75ish, I got luck and a friend of mine got married before I did and had the same colors I do so she sold me her flowers and vases for $50 bucks!

-your dress: $1300, give or take a few bucks. My Fiance had to make me buy it bc I fought for a whole month over spening that much on a dress I’ll only wear a few hours. Now that I have it though I wouldn’t trade it for nothing.

-bridesmaid/groomsmen gifts: Bridesmaid or Best Man – $33 bucks, I made them gold necklaces with a small oklahoma charm on them (that’s where we’re from) Groomsmen: $42, my Fiance found an amazing sale at a local hardware store so he bought small cloth tool bags and filled them with little tools every guy needs.

Photographer: $1300.00

DJ: $60, we got lucky and the venue had the equipment and only charged $20 an hour to run it for us.

Honeymoon: $4000.00 on a trip to the Bahamas

-any outside help (ie parents paying for food) My Fiance parents are paying for our rehearsal dinner, around $400 I think.

-was anything DIY: 90% of the wedding is DIY, I’m pretty crafty and very frugal so I wanted to do it all

-how long you saved for the wedding: didn’t really save, just set my budget and made sure I stayed under it.

-invitations/save the dates – so far save the dates cost $70, plus I think $50 for stamps. 

I’m going to attempt to DIY invitations. I’m good at that type of stuff, and used to mail homemade invites for my bday parties. 

-venue – venue has a minimum spend of $4500 including set up and take down. We settled for a day time wedding to save money (night is $22,000 min)

-food – included in venue cost 

-alcohol – included in venue cost 

-decorations – $500ish

-flowers – $1000-1500

-your dress – $1800

Photographer – $1600 for 6 hours 

-bridesmaid/groomsmen gifts – probably minimal because I am in school to become a jeweller and will make the gifts.

Inviting 130, expecting 65 (as mostly everyone is from out of town

Engagement Ring – $10,000

Wedding band – mine $5000, but I’ll make my FI’s

No outside help for us, at this point anyways

Haven’t saved at all. I’ll be a broke student, but fiancé makes good money and can pay for wedding easily since we’re keeping costs low 

-where the wedding was and it’s significance to the cost – wedding is in my hometown of Vancouver, most expensive city in Canada. Fiance is not from here, both our families live elsewhere.

Venue is a heritage mansion on the beach. Garden wedding with ocean views

-how long you saved for the wedding: We didn’t really. We refinanced a loan to come up with a smaller budget than we originally planned. We got the loan at Christmas and H2B added in his commission. Our wedding was rebooked for September so technically we only saved for 9 months.

-where the wedding was and its significance to the cost: We’re getting married in Cardiff, Wales, UK. We were going to get married in a countryside hotel outside the city but the costs were astronomical because we were going to have to pay to get both our families there and for them to stay. We changed it to a city centre location to remove that obligation and cut the cost down by half, very chuffed.

Were are getting married in Richmond,Va

Dress: $525 without alterations

 Our budget is $10k. We started cutting back, less nights out, no vacations, etc.

Ours is December 18th..but here is what we know so far..

Venue, food, & drink (5 hour open bar)  = About $6,000 for 90 guests. 

Save the dates & invitations = $300 or so from wedding paper divas. Waited both times for them to have a 40% off sale before ordering.

Flowers = my bouquet is sola flowers & was $100 from etsy. My bridesmaids are carrying single roses and our centerpiece flowers are fake from afloral.com and I paid about $200 for them all. They look great too. 

Decor = we didn’t have to buy much.. the venue had a great aisle runner.. 10 big rustic lanterns…the walls have wreaths on them at Christmas and they have 2 large decorate christmas trees..one in reception area the other in the ceremony spot.  So we just bought vases for the centerpieces.. $48 for 12 birch vases at save on crafts.  Some Christmas lights.. candles and holder about $75 bucks from amazon.. we made PVC pipe backdrops for the ceremony and for diy photobooth..cost about $50. 

BM/GM gifts- Still unsure what we’re doing about these. dress -$

Dress- $800 ( Mori Lee 5108 ) 

Belt for dress – Store was going to charge $400 for the one I liked there..but then I found the exact same one on etsy for one $90

Alterations – unknown still.

DJ – will be about $1000 because he is doing uplighting.

Photographer – 750.. we hired a really great guy who is just starting out. Our engagement pics came out awes

Grooms attire = Free. Tuxedo junction 

Cake / cupcakes = Free. A gift from his cousin who is a professional baker..

Favors = $30 for 100 small boxes.  To put homemade christmas cookies in.. cookie supplies a gift from my grandma who Is making the coolies. 

Rehearsal dinner = my parents are paying for.

Can’t think of much else.. ring boxes we got off etsy $30.  Guest book etsy $60. And custom table numbers etsy $15.
