We already took our engagement pictures in Maui on vacation BUT our photographer we chose for the wedding includes a complimentary engagement photo shoot in the package we selected. So should we just suck it up and do it again b/c, well, they’re included, or say no thank you? Fiance doesn’t want to but he’s a guy and never wants to take pictures…however, I know if I mention it in passing a few times he’ll warm up to the idea and accept it as an inevitability, because, well, I kind of think it would be fun! 🙂
So, if we do, the question is should we take fall pics with the changing leaves or winter pics with snow???

If I had to pick one or the other I’d say fall… but that’s because falls my favorite… It’s 100% up to you guys if you want to do them or not but I think multiple pictures is fun!
We just finished up our 2nd set of epics and we have 2 more… fall and winter.

Yes! For us, the most valuable part about engagement photos was getting to know the photographer. Engagement photos give everyone a chance to work together and get a sense of how things will be on the wedding day. Our photographer requires them, because she wants to work with each couple before the big day.

@MrsTVLover: Yes, that is a great point! And a good idea to help Fiance feel better about taking more pictures. Thanks for the idea, I really do want to feel comfortable with our photographer on our big day and this is a great way to make that happen! 🙂

@MrsTVLover: Our photographer had a really similar mindset- she asked us to do things to ‘practice’ for our wedding photos haha! Maybe I’m just narcisistic but if someone told me to take a second set of e-pics I’d go get showered and put on make up RIGHT NOW! lol

Well.., sometimes it’s good to take engagement photographs with your future photographer to see how it (they) will work with you on that day and if there are any issues to iron out before the big day. If you are okay with not taking any with your photographer, that’s cool too. I’d parlay the engagement shoot into getting more prints, bigger album etc. I don’t see the need for two engagement shoots. I actually don’t even know what to do with the pictures I got from mine!

Yes! It’s a great opportunity to get to know your photographer, and what poses/expressions you like and dislike, and if it’s included, why not?!

Another option is if you don’t want a second set of engagement pictures ask if your photographer would be willing to do a boudoir or trash the dress session instead.

Ask if you can do a “Day After Shoot” or a “Trash the Dress” if your into that!
If anything I say redo them it’d be a great opportunity to work with your photographer and they get used to you! =)

@MrsTVLover: Agreed! My Fiance HATES having his pictures taken and our E-pics were a great way for him to get used to the idea (and work behind the various poses). It also allowed us to get to know our photographer and his style a bit better.
If it is included, why not? Do you have pets, maybe you can include them in the local shoot?

@Treejewel19: I just had to laugh because I have a fish, but I don’t think that would work for a “pet” photo shoot, hahaha! I really hope Fiance warms up to the idea once I tell him it would be a great way to get to know our wedding photographer and her style! I’m getting excited about e-pics all over again now! Ah, what to wear?!?! lol

You could always see if the photographer is willing to trade them for bridal portraits, trash the dress, etc or ask if you can have a discount for them – that is what we did.
If not I say go for a second session!!! I dont think you will ever be sad you have too many pictures and we had a great time with ours! Two times would be even more fun!

I say go for it, they are complimentary, its an experience you wont forget and an additional thing you can use in your wedding!
