I have a question for all you hairstylist bees.
I quit dying my hair a few years ago. My hair was very unhealthy, so I decided it needed some time to repair itself. Now that my hair is back to its natural color (a “dirty blonde”/light brown, being lighter at the ends- almost a natural ombre effect), I was wondering if you could recommend away for me to kind of brighten or enhance my natural color without using a permanent dye? My hair starts to look pretty drab in the winter time since I’m not outside in the sun as much and my skin gets a lot more pale.
I’ve had a glaze done before, so I was thinking about doing that. Is it possble to buy a glaze and do it myself at home, or does this have to be done at a salon?
Any other ideas?

I am not a hair stylist but mine told me that if I ever wanted to do an at home glaze it should only be clear. Doing a color glaze at home could potentially open up a can of worms.

I’m a hair dresser. The only way to lighten or brighten ur hair color is to use a product with peroxide to strip the color from ur hair. Which could be a bleach or a high lift color. If u want to enhance ur color I say try a color glaze. I don’t know of any that u can use outside of the salon though. I use a semi permenent color on my hair. It still has peroxide in it but not as strong. It only opens ur cuticle a small amount so ur color will fade. Glazes don’t use peroxide. The just coat ur hair. U can get color or clear just to make it shiny. Since it only coats ur hair it won’t last long but is great for adding shine for the big day. Hope that helped a little.
