I was doing a little cleaning and came across a gift an ex boyfriend had given me. This ex and I ended on good terms and I don’t have ill feelings towards him or anything. Anyway, I came across this gift and I thought I have to share this idea with people because its really thoughtful and free!
We never gave each other valentines day presents, but one year he said he did have a present for me. What he had done was asked all of my close friends and family to say two things that they loved about me, this was back in the day of myspace so he sent them all messages. He then compiled then all together and printed it out on fancy card stock paper and presented it to me as a gift. It was so sweet and simple. Some people’s answers were funny, my brother said he loved that I wasn’t a skanky hoe… and some brought me to tears. And I will have it forever to find on a rainy day, like yesterday, and it reminds me of that time in my life, and all the people who love me.
I think its a great gift for your Fiance, Mom, Sister, Friend, anyone who maybe needs a boost and see how much they mean to those around them. Its great too when you’re low on funds with all this wedding planning…
Just wanted to share. I hope someone finds this useful 🙂

My sister did this for our mom’s birthday. Mom was feeling down because of some family stuff not going well so my sister asked Dad, me, Mom’s siblings, friends and acquaintances to send two happy thoughts about Mom, which she printed out on nice cards and put into a pretty box. Mom said it made her feel great.
At our wedding, Mom had wedding advice emails from people who couldn’t attend and read them aloud, which was really sweet!

When my fiance was a few weeks away from coming home from his first Navy deployment, I asked all his friends and family to write something (if they wanted to) to welcome him home. I would be the only person there when he got home, partly because they all live out of town and partly because he wanted to spend the first day or two with just me. His parents were awesome about sending the request out to people I’ve never even met, and I got a ton of responses. His parents even forwarded a picture of my fiance welcoming HIS dad home from Desert Storm as a kid. I compiled them all into a notebook that I ordered from Zazzle.com (you can customize the cover) and gave it to him the day he got home. It was the only time I have ever seen him cry, so I think it went over pretty well.
I never thought about using the idea in a wedding or different format, but I can say from personal experience, it is a great idea!
