Hello! So I’ve encountered a bit of a conundrum in that, while we will have music and maybe our friends and some children will be having a good time on the dance floor, I can’t think of more than 4 adult family members that would get out there…So! I was hoping for some suggestions as to entertainment alternatives for the “cocktail hour” (sans cocktails, although perhaps if everyone was a liiiiittle tipsy we wouldn’t have this problem to begin with, haha) and reception. Thanks!

Hi! Our receptions are different (I’m having a lunch reception), but our family and friends aren’t huge dancers. We’re going to offer board games for people to play- hungry hungry hippo, rockem sockem robots, chess, checkers, chutes and ladders, connect 4, decks of cards, etc. We’ll also have music on in the background so if people want to dance, I will not stop them!
I feel like this is a good alternative!

I think board games and card games are great. You could also have something like a Wii hooked up (Mario Kart and Wii Sports are hits at our parties), karaoke, play the shoe game, have a scavenger hunt, have a characture portrait artist to draw people, etc. There are tons of dancing alternatives. And remember, adults are fully capable of engaging in interesting conversations that are highly entertaining. A good seating plan that mixes people in smart ways goes a long way to making it a fun wedding.
