My Fiance and I have members in our wedding party from Dallas (2-2 1/2 hrs away from us) so we are trying to decide how to have them involved in things that they NEED to be here for. I was set on a sat wedding, however I thought the wedding party may not be able to come here on a Fri for the rehearsal. So I thought, cool, we can change the date if necessary to a Sun afternoon. I know where we are having the rehearsal dinner, however, considering lunch is usually cheaper than dinner I was thinking of having rehearsal lunch instead of dinner at noon and then go rehearse afterwards. Has anyone done this before? And is this a wedding etiquette violation (in other words, frowned upon)? I realize I may be getting ahead of myself but it will help me also in determining a set date I want.

So funny you are bringing this up! I was just talking to Future Mother-In-Law about this today! We are considering the same thing. We really just want a casual, fun, non rushed event. Our wedding is not as caual so we wanted to relax a bit the day before. It should be cheaper, and it should help with next day hangovers! LOL!!

I think that sounds like a lovely idea. Definitely cheaper and that will give you time after the rehersal to do whatever else you want before the big day And I like the idea of it helping with people being tired from the night before.

There are no laws about rehearsal dinners. Many times the date, time and location has to be juggled around availability of the venue, the wedding party and the officiant.
Do what works for you.

We are having the wedding Friday night and have to rehearse on Thursday BEFORE 5pm because they close for other events. Not sure we will even get a chance to rehearse because it’s just TOO early. We will have dinner Thursday night though. I say do what works best for the majority of people… and your budget

Thank you all for the wonderful comments. I guess now I will have to check with everyone and see if a Sun afternoon wedding and Sat noon lunch with work with everyone. I dont think it should be too much of a problem for them!
