- Wedding: June 2012
So me and my hubby got married on June 23rd and it was the most beautiful but most stressful day of my life. At least it was followed by 6 of the most relaxing days ever in Mexico. Lets just say everything that could go wrong went wrong. Caterer forgot my wedding with 11 days to go and was grateful I called with a question and reminded her then she tried to charge us two grand over budget in her haste to rent everything last minute. The jewelers sent the wrong “matching” band to my ring with only 4 days till the wedding but it was a happy mistake and I ended up falling in love with it (still stressful). My bridesmaids were like the flakiest brats ever and showed up 5 mins before the ceremony when they were supposed to be helping me set up all day. Oh and the real kicker was the day before the wedding when it was discovered that our photography wasn’t exactly a professional. Sure she had been taking pictures for a while but with no formal training or coursework. With a day left we couldn’t freak out….we just shrugged and hoped for the best. I am actually amazed at how the photos turned out. I can’t stop drooling over them. They caught moments that I didn’t even notice were happening. In fact I have too many favorites so here they are.
HAIR AND MAKEUP. Notice my something old and blue vintage earrings in my hair.
GETTING DRESSED. It took 15 mins to lace up. Not ideal for bridesmaids who don’t show up to help you until last minute. At least the guys were running late too.
FINALLY READY/BRIDAL SHOTS.
SOMETHING BORROWED. My mom who has been rather unsupportive of my marriage showed up in the nick of time. We actually had a touching moment when I said out loud “oh no I forgot my tissues at home.” She said that I could borrow her handkerchief that was apparently a family heirloom with something blue on it too. I had overlooked in all the planning stress that I still needed something borrowed. Tis was perfect.
THE BRIDESMAIDS. They wore the two birds dresses and they all wore them differently. They looked great. My favorite part is that the it fit everyone even my 9 month pregnant maid of honor. The dress only comes in two sizes. Size A fits girls 0 to 16!!! They looked beautiful and comfortable.
THE SETTING. We got married in the most beautiful redwood grove nestled inside pinot noir vineyards of Sonoma County. We loved it. It was so amazing. A creek wove around the ceremony site and we walked down in complete silence except for the sound of bubbling water. We got a ton of complements on the venue. Plus there was a huge field (designed to hold a larger ceremony than our own) where we made a kids play zone with tons of toys and goodies. They loved it and the parents were happy too! So yeah, my wedding looked a tad bit like the Twilight Breaking Dawn wedding but who cares.
My vintage chine places settings. I collected odd little plates at thrift stores for months. Every setting was different and the salad and dinner plates didn’t match for each setting. Plus vintage wine and champagne glasses from thrift stores. Made for a rustic shabby chic mad teas party feel. By the way I am selling them. PM me if interested.
My lovely little princess cake made by my dear friend, a skilled pastry chef who even made homemade marzipan and dyed it peach for us. Just finished the leftovers yesterday….mmmmm.
Mismatched vintage bottles clustered around different lanterns for centerpieces.
Candy Buffet!!!! Complete with Clear cellophane bags and stickers to seal them with our date and Thanks. I am also selling these jars and scoops and leftover bags if anyone is interested.
Our FANTASTIC 18 piece swing band….the Moonlighters. The vocalist was out of this world. Not 1, not 2, but 4 trumpets alone! Oh I could have danced all night and still have begged for more in the words of Eliza Doolittle. The played only classic songs of the 40’s.
