They’re selling the recipes and brands off to the highest bidder(s) so you should still be able to get some of the higher selling products.  I bet the owner of Bimbo will buy them out (it’s owned by the richest man in Mexico.)  I’m sure he would love having bakeries and distribution centers already in place and ready to use.

Also, did you know that Hostess also owns Little Debbie? Goodbye Zebra Cakes and Nutty Bars. 🙁

It’s hard for me to imagine a world with no Hostess SnoBalls.  *  sigh *  And Ding Dongs, don’t get me started, they’re the BEST!!

@Sunfire:  I’m fairly positive that this is true. A co-worker at work just mentioned it. I also will be double checking, because while I don’t typically eat gluten or dairy, when I do indulge, it’s usually with one of those!!!

Is it just me or has Hostess gone down hill over the past few years?

@This Time Round:  I will be sad if Vachon ever goes under… I don’t eat packaged stuff like that often but man do I love Passion Flakies.

This is making me want to eat a Twinkie, and I can’t remember the last time I ate one of those! So much for the theory that Twinkies will outlive the apocolypse.

Although I haven’t had wonder bread in years, I’ve only had a twinkie, snoball, or chocolate cupcake once — I’ve gotta say, this is pretty crappy news. I wish all those people who are losing their jobs well.

I can’t say I ever imagined this would happen. I figured they would be around forever.

can’t stand Wonder bread or any Hostess cupcakes, including Twinkies….any of their chocolate cupcakes made me nauseous.

I was always a TastyKakes and Entenmann’s girl…maybe Drakes for some items, like the coffee cakes and Yodels…

Little Debbie isn’t part of hostess… they’re the competitor! WAY different company. We’re still good!

It’s, it’s, it’s . . . (stuttering in my head)

It is not that we actually eat this stuff or want to eat it.  Twinkies, etc., are abominable from a nutrition standpoint.  I don’t actually ever buy Hostess products.

But!

I always wanted to know they were there, just in case!!  I don’t know how to explain it.  It was a comforting thing leftover from childhood; of course my Mom put Twinkies in my Disney Princess lunchbox like every other little American girl.  It’s tradition.

Like, I no longer play with Barbie dolls but it’s still warm and fuzzy to know Barbie dolls are still out there in the world somewhere making some little girl happy.

Frown  Color me sad.

Sucks that so many people are losing their jobs. That strike really worked out well…
