He proposed on Dec. 19, our 1 year & 5 month anniversary! The backstory is we both love Scrabble and play at least once or twice a week. Here’s the story:
That morning he told me he was going shopping with his mom for my Christmas present. I actually thought they might be picking out the ring, but it turns out that was done a while ago! He was actually going to my parents’ house to ask them!
I had a manicure appointment that day (convenient, since I’ve been showing my hand to people constantly since then). When I came back I turned into the hall and the Scrabble board was on the floor and the letters spelled out “You are everything to me, I love you.” I opened the door to the bedroom and he was there on one knee with the ring!
The ring: The diamond was originally in his great great grandmother’s wedding ring, and then in his grandmother’s. I love that it has some history, and that his grandma was willing to give it up! He had it put in a temporary setting (plain white gold) so I can pick out my own, which I’m going to do next week. I’ll post a picture once the ring is in its final form.
I could not be happier or more excited!
