So after maaaany headaches, our invitations went out and are starting to arrive to local guests (hoping the out of state guests start receiving them today!). Last night I get a call from my moms cousin. Or so I thought. Turns out, this man received our invitation but had no idea who we were! I figured this may happen, as our parents wanted to invite some family members we hardly ever see. So I started naming some people who I figured he should know (my grandparents, who would be his aunts/uncles, etc) but no dice. We figured out he has the same name as my mom’s cousin, but was definitely someone unrelated. He seemed like a nice older guy and said it was a lovely invitation and congratulated us. But now I can’t help but worry that maybe some of these other invites went to the wrong place. I sent our guest list to our parents months ago and asked them to proofread it but clearly they were not very thorough (found out as we were stuffing envelopes that we spelt FMIL’s friends last name wrong, but at that point everything was printed and it was too late). I’m hoping people are understanding, and am frustrated because I asked our parents to do this and feel like theydidn’t take it seriously, and now I look like the jerk for spelling peoples names wrong or sending things to the wrong address.
This guy called so I’m figured he is honest and wouldn’t crash, but I am a worry wart! Have any of you made an invitation blunder? I feel its such bad etiquette, but I can’t really change it now.
