I am having a very informal beach wedding. My Wedding party is dressing in a tropical attire, like having shopped at Tommy Bahama…
I found the perfect dress but it doesn’t come in White… I thought of wearing it in a solid color other than white… I realize.. "it’s my day and I can wear whatever I want" but I’d like to know if anyone has gone this route and some feedback on how it looked or how you felt.

I think you can totally wear the dress that you love, whatever the color is. I love your tropical attire theme, do you have any inspiration pics you can post?
By The Way – I love IOP!!!

you can always add some white decorations or flowers to the event if your concerned about colour
personally i think a non white destination dress is absoultely fine…. i wore bikini and sarong to our wedding 🙂

One of the most fabulous brides I’ve ever seen was a friend who wore a black evening dress to her wedding. It was so unique and pretty, I don’t think anyone really made a big deal about her not wearing white.
What color are you thinking? Do you have a link to the photo of the dress?

I almost went with a colored dress but then I fell in love with a ivory tea lenght gown.
Rock and Roll Bride is another good source for pictures of non traditional gowns/brides.

I’m going with a white dress, mostly to appease my more traditional family members, but honestly I seriously considered a plum or black cocktail dress (my actual wedding dress is tea-length – so not super traditional).
If we were having a beach wedding, I totally would have gone with a color other than white. I think you should do it if you like the idea.

I think that would look nice for an informal wedding. What color were you thinking of by the way?

I think its your wedding and you should do what makes you happy, white dress or not.

I say go for it! I haven’t picked out my dress yet, but I’m certainly not ruling out a nontraditional color. My own mother married my father in a pink dress twenty-six years ago, and her mother picked out the dress!
