- Wedding: April 2012
OK thank you all for your advice and being a voice of reason in this whole process 🙂
My wedding was originally scheduled for Aug 2011 and I bought my dress and almost immediately had doubts
I decided I was being stupid and tried it on again – decided I loved it and it was fine.
But I was never completely sure . . .
then my wedding was moved to October and finally to April 2012
and my mom finally confessed – she hated my dress – and I was not sure at all
So I went to LA and fell in love with a dress at La Soie from their in house designer – it was not as flattering but it was too big but it really fit what I was looking for except it was $2700 before taxes and alterations and that seemed extravagant since I already had a dress
Two days later my mom posted a link on Facebook from Lord and Taylor with a link to Brides.com where you could play dress up http://www.brides.com/wedding-dresses-style/dressing-room and I called her freaking out because why had she posted my wedding dress on facebook. But wait the dress was exclusive from La Soie and Lord and Taylor said it was Enzoani. There is still a bit of a mystery there. So I contact Lord and Taylor and Enzoani and La Soie and since the dress was originally $1900 and marked down to $950 plus an additional 15% off and FULLY RETURNABLE I decided to order to see if it was the same dress. Unfortunately I had to order a larger size than I needed and it could not be ordered custom length. So I made an appointment with a seamstress here in Vegas – Fit For A Bride (they are AMAZING btw) to see if it could be taken in and hemmed.
So I went to Tucson and tried on wedding dresses with my Mother-In-Law last weekend
and went and tried on dresses again this weekend and tried on this Allure number that fit me like a dream but it did not fit my wedding and I just had cold feet . . .
So I decided to try the Enzoani/La Soie dress on again before the appointment this afternoon with the seamstress and I realized that was my dress. So excited but so scared it could not be taken in. My 14 year old daughter was helping me and we decided to see what it would look like in a more snug fit and my daughter’s finger went through the tulle/lace dress in the back. I am ashamed to admit I screamed and burst into tears. Was not even sure I could have this dress altered and now it was NOT returnable. I tried to comfort my daughter but honestly was so stressed out and disappointed that I was not helping her or myself. I did not want a patched dress – I wanted a pretty dress and was stuck with it if it could not be altered to fit.
So we went to meet with Debi at Fit For A Bride. It will be a bit extensive to alter – we will basically need to remake parts of the dress but it can be done and the tear – that can be fixed invisibly with no issues at all – in fact she is not charging me for that at all. So for less than $1300 I have my dream dress that will be absolutely fitted to my body and it is exactly what I want AND my mother and Mother-In-Law will like it – it just feels like me – I am so happy!!!
So here is my dress that will be perfect on my wedding day
Front on me
and the beautiful train that I wanted and caused so much ruckus in the first place
And I solemnly swear that I will not post another single issue about my dress ever again!!!!
