- Wedding: June 2013
I just need to vent because I am literally about to cry.
So not only have we pushed the wedding back like a year to help my mother cover my brothers funeral last month..that is hard enough. But to have a venue be totally and utterly rude is another thing while Im this sensitive.
So we decided upon a cheaper destination wedding with just 30 people instead of a local wedding with nearly 150. I had finally found a venue that was all inclusive..I mean literally all we had to do was show up in Islamorada, FL and everything would be done for us.
I shot over an email with everything they were requesting and put my total # of guests at about 20-30. All good. They show me back a proposal for the 30 people that came to roughly about $5k (Amazing right!!!)
So we called so my fiance could get on the phone with the owner so that we could talk about what we wanted to do next. The guy asked my fiance what our budget was and according to the proposal we had just received that afternoon he told him about $6k. Then all of a sudden my fiance is hanging up the phone like 2 minutes later. I was like ok WTF are you doing why is there no deposit paid, etc. My fiance had the most confused look on his face and said the guys said “Well with that budget we cant help you guys, I hope you guys find somewhere else and have a nice wedding” then hung up.
Um ok? So in turn we did find another place that I dont love as much as the first choice and I feel like im going to florida to have my wedding at a bar and grill! So a month later (today) my fiance told me well why dont you try the first place again.
I sent an email stating once again what we wanted and all that and waited. About an hour later I get an email that says ” Im sorry but our venue wont be able to perfectly provide what you need so we hope you have an awesome wedding somewhere else.” I emailed back “May I please ask why?”. I never got a response. AAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
I dont even know what to say? Ive read nothing but awesome reviews on this place with the occasional “the owner is an a-hole”.
Do I just move on or should I try to get the other owner on the phone?
What would you do??
