Bees! Tonight I went out for supper with my mother at the Sea Grill/Rockefeller Center (an old family favorite)…when what should we witness? A proposal outside on the skating rink! It was so sweet, so romantic, everyone stood still on the ice and watched as this man got down on one knee, in the middle of the rink, for all to see! As soon as she said “yes” everyone applauded. It was the most adorable sight.
Of course…my mother and I teared up, and it made me all the more excited for my own, upcoming proposal!!
Have any other Bees witnessed public engagements? Was your proposal public or private? What are your preferences/What do you think of them? 🙂

I think they should be private. But then mine was public so who am I to talk, lol

I’ve never witnessed one but it would be cute. Mine was private, just us on a hike and I liked it like that.

I picked other. I think it depends on the situation, mainly…
1. Where is it publically displayed
2. How is it publically displayed
3. Who are the people involved & how well do they know the other person
I think they’re adorable but there’s a time and a place for them. I also think it’s REALLY sad when the girl looks pressured, says no, and/or runs away in embarrassment.

I think it depends on the couple, I have seen some that are just amazing and some that are just flops. Mine was kind of in public but it was just the two of us that heard it (besides the dancing instructor), but I honestly would not have minded a large public proposal. I also would have been thrilled with a romantic private one. Shoot, I am just thrilled I got the proposal, LOL.

Mine was public in NYC! At Rockefeller Center… I was up there on a “girls trip” with my Mom and Sister before Christmas and my fiance surprised me up there.. in a reindeer suit, to boot. It was amazing. The people who witnessed it cheered and congratulated us. It was a moment I’ll never forget. 🙂

I wouldn’t mind watching a public proposal but I would have been mortified if my proposal was public!

@Eireann: That is so adorable! Were you ice skating?
@tehlilone: LOL I know what you mean–I’ve seen YouTube videos where guys have gotten rejected in very public places and it’s just…sad and awkward 🙁

@kala_way: What was your proposal like? Were you surprised?

Mine was in front of the Taj Mahal. Although it was a very public place, the locals didn’t seem to notice what was going on.

Mine was private, and I preferred it that way! I am not into big public displays, so I was relieved that my fiance kept it just the two of us.

They should match the couple! A shy girl would not enjoy a public proposal, but a bubbly one might just love it!

I agree that it depends on the couple. I kinda of experience both. Our real proposal was on the beach at night, just us two, and I loved that we had the moment to ourselves. When we took engagement pictures, we reenacted the proposal on the beach during the day because we didn’t have any pictures of the original proposal. People though it was a real proposal and were clapping and stuff for us which was fun.

While I absolutely did NOT want a public proposal, I LOVE seeing them happen! I saw one about 6 months ago at the Blue Bayou in Disneyland (it’s the restaurant in the Pirates of the Caribbean ride) and it was so awesome! 🙂 I love seeing them! But again, I was VERY explicit to my Fiance that I wanted a PRIVATE proposal (he was thrilled)

I voted Other as I think it’s totally dependent upon the couple. I would’ve hated a public proposal. But some people would love it. It’s not up to me to decide what is or isn’t romantic for other people. I think it really should be what the woman wants!
