At our reception, I was mingling with family when my great aunt, who I don’t get to see very often, told me that she had a special gift to give me.
She proceeded to pull out a little bag and present me with a beautiful white gold and diamond ring that belonged to my great, great grandmother. It was her wedding band. I was shocked. She had spent a LOT of money having it polished and replacing a diamond in it. I was so greatful. It means so much to me to have something like this!
I just have to share photos!

I am so happy you got such a beautiful heirloom. When my grandmother passed away my family almost broke up because of the fighting for valuables, and my first cousin ended up getting my grandmothers rings. I felt like okay, give her the engagement ring, give us the tiny band, but no my uncle wanted it all. It is important that the people who are alive and with us choose who gets these kinds of keepsakes. I know it must make you feel like a princess, and helps assure a tradition of long lasting loving relationships. Congrats

@puppiekisses: I am so sorry you had to go through that as a family. I am so greatful that there is no fighting among us over things like this.
I truly did feel so blessed to have been the one that my aunt wanted to give this too, and look forward to giving it to my daughter if and when she marries!
