- Wedding: August 2012
I got married 6 weeks ago, and I live in UK, so perhaps this post wont get to may people, but if I save one from the horror I went through then I will think it was worth it.
I booked a woman called Maureen Whisker.
Her website was lovely, loads of weddings on there, she was fairly local to me so we met quite a few time before the wedding. I even went with her to the hotel to do a recce of the place, showing her special places I would like pics taken.
She advertises as being a portait and wedding photographer , and is also a tutor at Lincoln colege and Hull university…….this is totally untrue as I found out.
She arrived at my wedding in scruffy clothes, which is a big no-no to begin with…..OK I didint expect her to dress up to the nines, she was working after all, but she wore scruffy trainers and her hair hadnt seen a hairbrush in days……she also had a B.O problem…….but none of this would have really mattered if her photos were brilliant…..
It was only afterwards that I thought about her appearance, it looked unprofessional, and thats because she was.
She didnt know how to pose people, and being a wedding photographer myself, I found myself helping her to pose people….without interferring.
I asked if she was OK…she said she was fine and that all the pictures were lovely…
She missed important shots, and said we would get them after the meal, as we were called in to eat……I had paid for a meal with us, and she ate that and then left while I was still eating. So I didnt get those taken at all…..
More than once I told her that I had blinked, to which she said ….’no you didnt, I got it fine’
When I got the images back I had blinked……and she didnt retake it so that was lost.
The ceremony shots were horrific. It is obvious to me that the focus on her lens was not turned on…..she denies all of this and says something happened when she transferred the images to her computer…BUT I uploaded them to my computer, and to Flickr…and it shows the properties, in which it states the focus was turned OFF. How rookie do you have to be to not know that this was happening? Anyone can knock the focus off, but first push of the shutter you KNOW, and put it right, and yet she kept shooting throughout the ceremony so NONE of the photos were in focus…..
here are some of the horrendous pictures I am supposed to put into my album…..she called them slightly weak! thats the understatement of the year I think
Luckily we were all up for a re-shoot, and both the venues welcomed us back to do it…..we did it yesterday and it was brilliant, and so much fun. All the excitement without the nerves.
But I wish I hadnt have to go through what I did, so this is why this threads exists, please be careful who you book. I thought I was looking at wonderful wedding pictures…..yes I was, but it was obviously not her work.
I AM a wedding photogrpaher and I still got duped. I was able to work some things out with how she posed us awkwardly…….so I helped her, but that should have set alarm bells ringing, but it was my wedding day……my mind was elsewhere….
The name is MAUREEN WHISKER……..please steer clear of her.
