Greetings Bees! This is VERY loooong, but I enjoy your stories; so I hope you will enjoy ours! So glad that the planning is over and the day has come and gone. I was a basket case throughout the planning process. The closer it came to the actual day though, I started to relax. So much so, that I was worrying myself! I figured it meant one of two things. Either I somehow turned myself into a Zen-like creature and I would remain calm no matter what happened because I knew it was too late to turn back now ; OR I was reserving my energy for a category 5, red-zone, pants ripping, incredible hulk freak out because some arbitrary thing that no one else would notice caught my eye.
Turns out, it was the latter and I was calm and cool as a cucumber. This in and of itself was Surprise #1! I only had ONE quiet flare (my hair wasn’t up to my standards). My Bridesmaid or Best Man caught on to the look in my eyes. She called me on it (she quietly whispered “it’s happening”) and made me laugh. She totally diffused the situation.
So, it was my sister (MOH), my best friend (BM), my mom, and Mother-In-Law hanging out getting hair and makeup done at the salon. My Fiance, dad, step-dad, BIL, Father-In-Law, and BM’s Darling Husband were all setting up the wedding! All men set this thing up! They did an amazing job. My Fiance executed my vision to almost every detail. He is normally super laid-back, so I did have my doubts as to whether he would be able to be the leader and delegate certain things. He proved me totally wrong. So, that was Surprise #2! Here are some decor pics…
Surprise #3: Some of you may have read one of my posts about how was I planning on surprising my Fiance by inviting his childhood best friend to the wedding. Well, that was indeed what I did! It went great. I was not there to see it and neither was the photog. She was with me and the gals at the hotel. BUT, my MOC snapped a pic of them together and sent it to me. You could tell that Fiance was crying in the pic. As soon as I saw it, I started bawling like a baby. Here is a pic of Fiance all teary eyed…
Fiance wanted me to open his gifts to me while I was getting ready. Here come Surprises 4 and 5! Gift 1 was a petite rose gold /mill grain ring from LOGR. I have been lusting after it for quite some time and wanted something to wear when I didn’t want to wear my blingy rings. I kind of had a feeling might get me that because I saw that he did a search for that ring on eBay. Gift 2 was totally and utterly unexpected. Fiance had been struggling finishing his thesis due to his research not panning out like he thought. He had been discouraged, I would even say depressed about working so hard and getting very little results. This has been going on for about 2 years. The fact that he had been, what I had deemed as, “dragging his feet” had caused disagreements and arguments between us at times. Anyway, I opened a box and there it was! His Master’s Degree was all pretty and official looking. It was accompanied by a note he wrote to me stating that he hoped this was tangible proof of his dedication to us and our future together. He had been working on this and I had no idea! We were all crying after I unwrapped that gift. Here is a pic of my rings and a stock photo of the LOGR ring Fiance got me…
This is almost over, I promise! Surprise 6: Our Honeymoon! He had planned the whole thing and didn’t tell me a thing about it until the morning after the wedding. He just told me what to pack. Every time I had asked him where we were going, he’d tell me Timbuktu. So, he had the directions to our destination in an envelope and directions to Timbuktu were on top. Very funny! We ended up going to a gorgeous B&B to stay one night. Then we went to the Adirondacks the next day for a week. He arranged for us to stay in the same cabin we got engaged in. Here are some other guest pics and two pics from the honeymoon!
Thanks for taking the time to read this, Bees!
