I hadn’t paid much attention to this until my maid of honor brought it up a couple days ago, but hardly ANYONE has bought anything off our registry. Is this normal?? I didn’t put it on the invite (as I read I shouldn’t), but put it on our website which is on the invite, and lots of people have asked me where and I’ve told them. It seems like lots of people also haven’t figured out that we have a website (it’s on both the save the date and invite). We have 85 people RSVP yes, and only 5 things bought off the registry. I even have 3 stores for them to pick from. Is this normal? I mean, I shouldn’t worry to0 much about gifts, but everyone put so much emphasis on having a registry I spent a lot of time on it, now I’m kind of annoyed it’s not being used and hoping we don’t get a bunch of random things we don’t need (we already have a fully functional house I don’t need more of most things!). Has this happened to anyone?

I’ve heard people are notriously bad last minute shoppers for the most part!

Maybe you’re getting a lot of cash gifts! Then you can complete your registry on your own.

I bet the store/people aren’t marking off the gifts, or your getting cash.

Our wedding date is not to far from yours. 32/240 items have been purchased from our BB&B registry, but all but 5 of those were purchased recently– the rest were shower items. Our 16 item amazon registry is completely untouched. So yeah.. 5 gifts for our wedding in 18 days.
Two explanations- your guests are bringing cash/gift cards, or they are picking up items from physical stores and bringing them to the wedding. Most of our guests are unmarried and don’t realize what a pain in the ass it is to haul a car full of gifts home.

@peachrosebride: Don’t stress! Like @abbie017: said, most people wait till the last minute or even after the wedding to buy gifts!
Also, a lot of people will probably be giving you cash. Be thankful for that!

Hmm, it’s hard to say. Sometimes people are funny about gifts. I always buy off people’s gift registries and I always buy EARLY so I have the most selection available. Maybe everyone is a later shopper or planning to give money (which you can use to buy the items you registered for)?
Like abbie017 said, I once worked in a cooking store and we had people buy a gift between the ceremony and the reception! No wonder they were in such a hurry!

I only had like 4 purchases off the registry at 2 days to go. There were quite a few more who bought on the last day before / day of the wedding; and we got several gifts that were ordered and shipped to us while we were on our honeymoon.
I also had a few guests that bought registry items, but not directly off the registry.
Don’t stress about it. People will gift what they choose.

I have literally waited til the day of the wedding to purchase gifts at every wedding I have been to. On the other hand, I only receivd 5 gifts from my registry so maybe you just won’t be getting many.

I’m right there with you. Our wedding is in 12 days and we’ve gotten 3 gifts since our shower. Nearly all of the items on our registry must be ordered (Amazon and our items at Macy’s are things like crystal that aren’t kept in stock). Also, unlike MrsBroccoli, we’re the last of our friends to get married, so they should know what a pain dragging gifts around town will be. I’m not ungrateful, I just don’t understand what’s going on since others have told me to expect the UPS man at my door everyday during the weeks leading up to the wedding.

I have avoided looking at our registry all together. If we get something on it than yay. If not hopefully we like it or there’s a gift reciept so it can be taken back. With a week and a half left til the wedding I can’t think about the registry.

Most things purchased off of our registery happened within the last 3 days. We were terrified that tons of people were going off script (small condo, no where for bonus things).
You can probably expect lots of gift cards, cash, and last minute purchases.

i just went through the same thing!!
and guess what… we got LOTS of gifts! Granted, we got more cards with cash and cheques (no wedding debt, yay!!) but we also got registry gifts. They had been purchased close to the wedding, so we kept getting deliveries almost every day for two weeks after the wedding.
We also got some very beautiful and sweet hand made gifts. The generosity of our guests overwhelmed me. I hope you have the same experience! but remember, you’re not doing this for gifts… right? 😉

Gah! I am so worried this will happen to us.
I don’t really want to do a registry, I actually want to ask people for donations actually…
In any case I am going to register at one place and I am still worried people won’t get the items asked for and give us useless crap. No offense.
My M.O.H was really helpful though she told me that if we do get something we don’t want that people usually leave the gift reciept with the item so you can return the items you don’t want and get money for it instead.

We got a lot of registry gifts for the shower. I think we only got 2-3 for the wedding, the rest was mostly cash with a few “uh….thanks?” gifts.
