Tee hee hee I get to post here now officially (LMAO HOW friggin’ cool is that?!) I okay’d the weekday wedding with my mom (M and I had already decided). and she loved the idea and said it was very original and would keep costs down and after I told her how cheap the wedding site was she was like absolutely!! lol!! Here’s our menu and food (borrowed from our blog)…. Now I am wondering is this too much food, not enough food? any suggestions? (And yes these pictures are going to the venues because unfortunately for them I know exactly what I want but will take suggestions)… The wedding will probably take place at 10:30 a.m. and reception starting at 11:00 should I move it up to 10:00 or 10:15 for brunch hours, is this okay?
We’ll have a swanky waffle bar 😀 with a variety of toppings and syrups
a great steak option (the caterer says we should do something like angus strip steak on skewers to keep the price down… i like this (do you think it looks well… cheap on the skewer?) we’ll probably have a shrimp option for those folks from louisiana because well they do love their shrimp here… and perhaps a shrimp and steak skewer mix….
an omelet station
a breakfast potato bar (in a martini glass of course)
cheesy egg and brunch casserole in a martini glass as well because well i just love the look, perhaps in a shooter glass though, not too sure…
a regional favorite of beignets
we’ll also have a breakfast grit bar (thanks bellenga) with a variety of toppings for those folks from Louisiana. However in my hometown we eat rice for breakfast 😀 lol!!!! All of the festivities will take place here, I’ll keep it nameless for privacy sake, but i’ve contacted them and the date is available during the day currently. we are going to go and view it on the 20th. because it’s a week day it’s SIGNIFICANTLY CHEAPER (a third of the price!!)
where the ceremony will be held (btw we don’t say rain anymore anywhere near my vicinity. i will shout that you are being blasphemous). snow isn’t so bad as long as it happens right before then i’ll hall my arse out there get married and run into the warm mansion.

I love it! All of it 🙂
We are doing a brunch menu (serving at 11pm) and I am sooo excited. Who doesn’t love brunch???
Soooo happy for you!

Yum! Everything looks delicious! There’s definitely something for everyone there. An espresso/cocoa bar would be a great addition to breakfast foods. As far the shrimp goes, I would have that separate from the steak. Or else have some steak without the shrimp. Just because some people abhor seafood and others are allergic, but in that case, the ones with shrimp couldn’t be anywhere near the others since there is a possibility for an allergic reaction from just being in contact with it (those are rare though but they do occur).

@farfromordinary: how cool is that?! have you run into any opposition? i’m going to have a few cocktails (about five or six) that are brunch related. I cannot take the credit for this Yankeebride inspired me weeks ago http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/dry-morning-wedding and since then i have been thinking how cool it is.
we’ll be serving the following alcoholic drinks
Champagne Fruit Punch
whew and the piece de resistance (I REALLY want this for a wedding cake, it looks so freaking cool and awesome to me, M rolled his eyes, we’ll see)

@ember: awesome points!! I was thinking of having like a coffee service and could do hot cocoa over there, but i’d love to do that as the guests were coming in so that they could keep warm in case it is cold. and you’re totally right about the seafood allergy! i am slightly allergic (but not to all seafood it’s crazy)… but i’ll definitely speak with the caterer about that.

Also have non-alcoholic juice (lemonade, oj, etc) and soda options as well.

@CREBR80 Opposition…yes, a little but you know what, honestly I don’t care. I’ve gone to weddings where they serve the traditional chicken, fish or steak and hated the chicken, and ate it anyway, so there are no right answes.
We decided to do it totally our way. As a compromise, I extended cocktail hour to cocktail 1.5 hour (I love hors d’eouvres) and people can get their fair share of “real” food. For “brunch” we’re going to have waffle station, omelette station, crepe station, carved turkey, beef and salmon (with asparagus and potato). passed mimosas. Full open bar as well.
I’m excited and I really love your pictures display.

@ember: we’ll have the juices, coffee etc because we have kids, but these will be our only alcoholic options sort of like a signature drink with a breakfast twist. the nonalcoholic drinks will be served in the beverage apothecary jars…
@farfromordinary: down here it is almost unheard of, perhaps one or two weddings a year, but never during the weekday, you know?
@spaniel: as far as the cake goes we’ll see what Mom Crebre says, she almost pooped when i told her black bridesmaids’ dresses. ummmm yeah lol!! and when i mentioned i’d love her in black she was like i would not. lol! then i asked her if i could pick out her dress and she said i doubt it LMAO!!! she’s sooo funny but she knows me very well and i’m sooo quirky… but i love that cake, even M doesn’t know

Yummmmmmm!!!! All of it is so yum! I have to look at this right before I hit the gym? That’s just wrong 🙂

- Wedding: May 2010 - Carlouel Yacht Club

- Wedding: June 2010 - Ceremony - First United Methodist Church; Reception - My parents' house!
Sounds pretty dang delicious! I think I’d have trouble taking part in a “cocktail hour” on a mid-week morning. I’d be donesky for the rest of the day. :p I might be alone in that though!
P.S. If I were to drink, I’d go for screwdrivers. :p

@msbuttons: the ironic part of it is that i am NOT a morning person! i think i’ll have my hair washed the night before and just have my stylist (who may be a bm) in the wedding as well. i’m not too concerned about it. i will get up at about 5 or so, get dressed etc. i don’t care if anyone is there, or any of that stuff… i suppose we’ll get dressed at home or perhaps have a hotel room, maybe have the photog in the same one…
@sciz: too many options you think? lol i was concerned if it were too dry.. but hey it is the day before nye so i’m just getting em ready for the party and this is louisiana, my family may find it strange, the louisianians would think it was normal.
@october: omg i have to do some major stuff due to the dress that i want and the fact that i am so friggin’ lazy or was before christmas, i have been on an eating restructuring since christmas…

*jumps up and down* Another brunch reception! We are getting married at 10:30am too! It is MUCH cheaper and also very original, but still really elegant. PM me if you have any specific questions about what we’re planning.
And I’m not a morning person, either! I remember a while back we talked how early to get up… we’re planning on 6am, with showers the night before.
