Hi I am Mrs Cypress to be: a fly and fabulous 29 year old. Wedding date: September 10, 2011 Time: 12:13 pm. 239 days away
Theme: Color! and DIY, non traditional in the fact that I have a colored dress, coming down the aisle to African drums and not having any singers or the other corny stuff that makes the ceremony last forever. Let’s get on with the partying!
I am making my own veil, centerpieces (small tierd cakes or cupcakes at every table), no aisle runner, flower wreathes to hang on the door, signage, and save the dates/invitations. I am at stay at home “step mom” so I have plenty of time to make all this stuff.
I have been natural for seven years I am desparately needing some ideas for my wedding day hair. Straightening it is not an option. I am wearing a birdcage veil. Does anyone have any ideas to of what hairstyles go with that type of veil?

Hi Everyone, I’m TheSoon2BeMrsC. I’m new to this site, but I’ve read posts on here before, so I decided to create an account so that I can get in on the fun! 🙂
My fiance and I will be getting married on 5.21.11 in a ceremony that will include approx. 300 guests (hopefully no crashers!) LOL! There is so much I can say about my wedding planning process…it has truly been an adventure!! In my opinion, the best decision we made was to hire wedding planners…they’re the best and are making my life ‘somewhat’ stress-free right now. I admit my life could be totally stress-free, but I’m such a perfectionist until I still stress even though I know they have everything under control.
I plan to keep my hair simple since I want my veil and face (and of course dress) to be the focus that day…so I will be wearing it pulled back in a center ball.
Our honeymoon will be spent in St. Lucia. Soooo looking forward to that! Sometimes I’m more excited about the honeymoon than I am the wedding…LOL
I don’t know about anyone else, but I am definitely getting ‘wedding day’ jitters! Luckily, I have several friends who are getting married this year, so we’re all leaning on each other for emotional support.
Glad this blog is here for support also 😀 Looking forward to reading everyone’s ideas and thoughts…I feel like family already 🙂

Thanks. Yes, I’m getting very close to the day! I’m super excited!! It’s coming so fast…we’ve been engaged since Feb. 7, 2010, but it doesn’t seem like it’s been that long.

Hello, lovely ladies!
I am Fox. I’m new to the boards, but have been a long-time lurker! Just decided to sign up for an account today, come out from behind my shell, and finally participate in the discussion. I am not yet engaged, but after some quick investigative work, I know the ring is soon-to-be in my SO’s hands! I am half African-American and half Filipina, and just wanted to reach out and say “hello” to all of my fellow AA brides. I found this community to be really positive, helpful and supportive and I look forward to planning my wedding with everyone!

Hi ladies I’m an 30 year old AA/Hispanic bride in NYC planning a wedding for $10,000 or less, which is a major challenge here. My Fiance and I have been together for 5 years
Our wedding date is 11.11.11 but if we don’t find a hall soon we will be moving it to black friday 11.25.11 We hope to have 75-85 guests.. our colors are pink, gold, and ivory..
I just put a deposit on my dress yesterday and figured that means it’s time to get busy with the planning and sharing with folks already knee deep in the process!
Wedding Day Hair is going to be a huge thing I know, I’m worried to say the least, because I’ve been natural for 4 years already but usually wear my hair flat ironed straight.
I’m going to be a definite DIY bride.. once I figure out where we are having this event!
