Try doing to Pilates. I have some dvd workouts that I do that focus on the ABs and it doesn’t seem to hurt too bad. Another option is Fitnessmagazin.com They have alot of great AB workouts.

Try doing the plank. Hold the position and contract the core.  Squeeze your glutes also to get more resistance. Plank is my go-to ab workout and it gives the best abdominal burn without putting any strain in the back.

Try doing some body weight squats and then going immediately into the plank position. By doing, two exercieses straight away without any rest in between, you’ll burn more fat.

Try this quick workout:

10 – 15 pushups (to keep your heart rate up)

1 minute high knees running in place

1 minute plank (alternate lifting your leg up)

No breaks in between workouts.

1 minute rest and repeat the workouts above in reverse order.


This is a short burst workout. The key is to keep your heart rate up and work various muscle groups at different intensities.
